So I had a series of weird events happen today. First, we've had a lot of rain here in south Louisiana as of late and while driving I hear water sloshing around in what sounds like the dashboard. Later, while the truck is parked, the panic alarm starts going off for no reason. Lastly, I get in to leave from work and the parking brake is magically set. Stupid question, has anyone experienced this series of events or am I just lucky? Thanks in advance!

I'd say check your drains in the engine compartment to make sure they're not clogged. I don't have pics of them, but if you search around here you can find some.

Can you check the interior cabin filter housing to see if water intruded into there? Should be easy to access. Not sure what wires run where behind the dash but I believe there is a fuse box or wiring harnesses in that same general vicinity of the cabin filter housing.

Is it or was it wet down in the passenger seat foot area under glovebox from all that rain? The BCM and fuse panel is down there that could have got wet and it has inputs to those type of things.

…If wet in passenger feet area and/or cabin air filter under glovebox, see this post below. Great pic in post #23 where to check for it being gunked up and not draining properly (jam a piece of wire in there and clean it out). These are the ones Larrymoe is referring to.

It could also be the drain for the AC evaporator which is in the engine compartment but your explanation of heavy rain leads me to the post above as your likely issue.

@JohnTrigger thanks for the info! So i cleaned out the drainage holes on the firewall and then went to see about the cabin air filter. I found water pooled up on the passenger side floorboard under the floor mat and it filled up the valley on the rocker panel
I sucked the water up best I could, now I think it's time to see what the local Ford service department will tell me
This is ridiculous!

Did any water come gushing out of the drainage hole once you cleared it on the side that is pictured in that first link, post 23? If so that would have backed up and previously done the other water damage on the floor valleys and up the rocker panel.

Regardless, dry out the fuse area and the BCM module under the carpet there.. I’d use fans and compressed air etc to get that as dry as possible before any longer term damage is done.

No, don't have a sunroof. I meant to add, can't believe I forgot this, but when I originally heard the water sloshing I also heard a sizzling sound

Well, you’ve exhausted what I know of as the usual suspects that cause water in the vehicle on passenger side. You could try hosing it down and looking for leaks with it parked normally and at various uphill and down hill angles. Or take it to dealer but I’d be surprised if they find it right away either. Leak checking seems like chasing ghosts.

By the way, there is the same vent hole on the drivers side. I assume you made sure that was clear too.

@JohnTrigger I appreciate all of your help with this. I checked that one as well, it wasn't clogged. It was actually very clean. Also, checked the floorboard and rocker panel on the DS and it was all dry. At this point, I'm driving around with a USB powered fan to dry the floor and a bucket of Damprid to pull any moisture out of the air. I have a service appointment Wednesday.
