Discouraged. Brand new truck sounds like it’s 5-10 years old the last couple starts 1st thing in the morning. Loud, almost a knocking sound, very rough for five minutes before eventually smoothing out and quiets down. I am stunned with this vehicle only driven 200 miles. This just started yesterday and today?

What kind of noise are you talking about? A loud, ratcheting type noise could be indicative of cam phasers. A general "racket" sound is probably the direct injection system on cold start. It can be somewhat mitigated by installing the sound and splash shields Ford took out but not entirely.

We'd have to know specifically what noise concerns you to be able to tell you if there's an issue. If it seems fine after it idles down and while driving it, then you're probably just hearing the typical racket these things make from a cold start. They run rich with DI active to get the cats up to temp quickly and it's just noisy. This is the first DOHC vehicle I've ever owned, and I guess I always had it in my head that DOHC VVT/VCT motors were all quiet and silky smooth, but the Coyote is not that.

I also don't know if it's the motor or something else with these trucks, but you'll find plenty of people complaining about a "rough idle" that feels like it's misfiring. I've never gotten to the bottom of it, or read of anyone that's gotten to the bottom of it. Dealers will just ignore it.

Dunno which engine you have. I have a 24 purchased early in 25 with the 3.5 eco and it shakes and sputters every single time it’s cold started. It’s embarrassing to drive anyone lol. Once warm it has a rough idle but nothing like the first 5 min or so. Of course the ford dealer said it’s all normal. It’s a shame because I love everything else about the truck but I doubt I’ll purchase another one

Probably should have given more info. The truck is a 2025 Ford F-150 XLT V8 5.0 liter Supercrew. The noise is combo of a higher revving idle, that will start around or just above 1000 rpm, which will drop down to 600-800, and then at about 5 mins will drop into a quite - smooth 500 or just under. The noise seems like a knocking sound when it’s in the high rev phase. The higher rev was not quite as disconcerting as the knocking/tapping sound.
