I upgraded my headlights to led and decided to upgrade my reverse lights as well. I bought WT21W bulbs as that is what my research determined I needed. The bulbs I bought were listed for 2021-22 F150 reverse replacement. When I took the tail light off, there is a plastic panel with a flat white piece underneath. I’m guessing that is a bulb of some kind? Is this an led? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that is the BLIS sensor

Blis sensor? Would that be for back up proximity alarm/auto brake?

Yep. BLISS = Blind Spot Information System . That's one of two sensor panels in the rear tails.

I'm pretty sure the reverse lights on BLISS equipped models are already LED. Only the parking,brake/turn are halogens.

It may work in tandem, I’m not sure, but there are back ups sensors in your rear bumper as well. Those are the sensors that tell you when someone is in your blind spot, which causes the little orange light on the mirror to come on

Gotcha! Is the reverse bulb inside from the BLIS? I couldn’t see how to get at the bulb.

The halogen tails with BLIS already have LED reverse lights, and they are integrated modules so you cannot replace them.

I agree they're inadequate, so I've added these pods/harness to augment which is a massive improvement: https://specialtyperformanceparts.c...reverse-light-kit-no-drill-srl-rear-light-kit

There are many brands of pods that will help in this area. I liked the look and spread of the Rigid SR-L and they've been quite effective but I'm sure others are good too.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'm considering the license plate led that I saw someone had hooked up to their trailer plug. I can't have anything that hangs down. I drive through snow banks and plow my driveway. They wouldn't last long.

Is the WT21W any good for the upper brake light? It's a white light, not red. 13v, not 7v as well.
