Under engine splash guard

Picking up my new lariat powerboost soon (shipping now) and worried about those fiber splash guards. I was wondering if anyone has tried spray painting with high temp paint or maybe plastic dip on those “diapers”? I’m thinking that may help, but I’d love an opinion from someone who already has their truck and dealt with these. Thanks in advance!

I suppose you could paint on a two part epoxy if it would soak into the “fabric”. But my advice is to bite the bullet and get a proper skid plate.

Replace it with the oem metal skid plate from a tremor or raptor. I can’t remember which but it’s cheap! There’s several threads in here on the subject

Thanks for the replies. That’s pretty much what I expected for answers, but I was hoping for a lightweight solution as the powerboost already has a low payload rating. I’ll see how long they last and probably end up going with a skid plate down the road.

Best thing to do is remove it and toss in the trash, my 18, 21, 23 have all had it removed. Didn't notice any sound difference.

I hate those things. I just ordered the full RCI skid plate package (engine, steering rack, transmission and xfr case plates) when they had the memorial day sale $811 for full plate package to include shipping. Going to install them once they get delivered. I was playing with fire at the hunting property in some of the spots but finally ordered them to give me that peace of mind on certain parts of the property in my rig.
