I have a 2021 king ranch and am unable to lower the drivers side rear seat. I wanted to install the built right assist but can’t lower the seat. My old f150 had enough space to get my hand down to release. My king ranch has doesn’t have an opening across the top it’s all one piece. There is a pull located where I would think the latch is but I have pulled like hell but can’t get it to release. Thoughts?

The backs don’t have the pulls to drop them down. There is a aftermarket system that can add the ability I seen somewhere on the web

I think the pull you are talking about is a child car seat attachment point. I have the Builtright pull on mine. Easiest way I have found to get it released to install the BR is to use a closed end wrench, about 9/16ths. There is a shaft that sticks out on the passenger side of the latch you can put the closed end of the wrench on, pull up and unlatch it. Same shaft the BR is attached to when you install it. The longer the wrench the easier it will be.

lift the bottom of the seat up. Like you would to load something on the floor. That motion will create a gap between the back rest and window/wall large enough to get you hand down and access the release catch. Not a tab mind you but a little pin to have to engage. Hurts your fingers a little but gets it done. May way to invest in the aftermarket pull tab mentioned previously. If none of this makes sense there are youtube videos on how to do it.

2021 F-150 King Ranch PowerBoost - no longer have this.
Getting the back of the seat to flop forward actually isn't all that hard once you find the right projection to use. The wrench is a very helpful thing to use when it comes time to pull on it.

It is kind of easy to think that the projection you want to pull will be on one side or the other of the latching mechanism but it really isn't. You'll find it inside the latching mechanism and when you give it a good pull it'll work just fine.

Do remember that the bottom part of the seat (the part you sit on) has to be flipped up a ways just to give you the gap you need in order to get to the projection/stud you need to yank upwards.

Anyway, when you get it right you'll likely figure you don't even need the add-on. Personally, I installed the add-on in my King Ranch and have found it just doesn't significantly increase my storage or really do anything that I really care for.

One other thing? If you are stubborn like me and install the thing anyway? That seat back is not going to go back into place with any reasonable force.

There is a horizontal bar in the latching mechanism behind the seat. About mid-way up the latching mechanism there are two tabs/ears. As best I can tell the idea is to slde the horizontal bar up/down until it is between the ears and then you slam the back of the seat into the latching mechanism. A somewhat gentle push just doesn't work, slamming is necessary.

If I had it to do over I'd not install the unlatching add-on. With all the stuff behind the seat of my King Ranch I'm not going to be messing around behind that back seat - not happening.

Same procedure for the last few generations of truck. And there are a bunch of other videos on YouTube, but this was the shortest.
