The pistons in the GM 6.0 are the same material as the Coyote (hyper aluminum alloy). My dad did say today his 2016 6.2L F-250 dropped big chunks of aluminum piston material like this when it was relatively new (around 20k miles) and it’s still running like a top 100k miles later. He says nothing ever came of it, but he’s not shocked if his van is starting to go as he says he hasn’t been good with oil changes on that.
I will try the magnet trick. Neither engine makes any noise really, both are quiet as a mouse idling or under way. I crawled under mine running today and no odd noises, and drove it 3 hours total with no weird behavior. I do about 700 miles per week right now.
