Typical wait for warranty approval?

I have a 2022 with a Ford dealer sold extended warranty to 2027.
Car has been in the shop since monday for a brake module and they tell me today that they finally got approval and will be ordering the part. Work does not start before tomorrow.
This seems crazy to me for a normal part; we are not talking about a new engine. Am I wrong?

Not sure if the amount of time is typical but as far as I know dealerships have to get approval from Ford for all warranty work. If it's a well-documented issue it will probably be quick but if it's something less common they sometimes have to go back and forth with Ford to get it approved. They won't begin the repair without approval because if they tell the customer it's ok then Ford denies it, it's not a good situation for the dealership to be in: either hit the customer with a surprise bill or eat the cost themselves.

It's all about money to Ford at the end of the day. A few hundred or thousand dollars saved per denial over millions of vehicles can add up to quite a bit of $$, which makes the shareholders happy.

Just FYI, many Ford dealers sell 'third party' extended warranties that are not genuine Ford Protect branded contracts.

The issue is with the ABS module on a 2022 and by googling I could see that those were back-ordered a few months ago so definitely a somewhat common and known issue.
I have a genuine Ford extended warranty.
