Changed the oil/filter/air filter in the Powerboost. Filled the tank too.

Closing the barn up tight and filling the fresh water tank on the RV.

So as long as no tree gets knocked down on my head and the storm doesn't hang around for days (dumping all the rain in one spot like Harvey), I'm going to be fine.

Thanks for checking up on us. :)

I finally DID check the weather forecast, since I could tell by all the fuss in town at the gas stations and grocery that folks were in a tizzy.
I'm pretty sure I have weathered far worse many times, but I'm prepared about as much as I can be short of heading out. :)

Trees are my only threat. They are my best friend as windbreaks, but my worst enemy if they don't keep their dang feet planted. ?

(y)

Just curious, does this sort of thing create much (ahem) 'excitement' for the FBO in general, or your duties in particular?

In any case, always wishing the best for our coastal and Eastex neighbors. It's looking like I'll be on the relatively calm western fringe of this one (wouldn't mind a bit of reasonable rain of course) ?

We go into what is called "Storm Mode" at the affected FBO. In this case, HOU/Hobby.

With FBO's in Gulfport, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Florida Keys....
It's not that uncommon for stormy weather, but HOU is national headquarters, so there's a certain kind of "energy" there with things like this. Since I'm basically in technology, rather than aviation, I'm not as....... Well, keyed up about it. Being on-call 24/7/365 is the norm for me. For 24 years, in fact. Hurricane or no hurricane. ??

This is just the beginning, folks. Prepare for a shitty summer of storms if you're near water on the Gulf, Florida, or the Eastern coast.

The love for the PB will grow as well.

I've lived on the Gulf Coast since 1958.

Weather can be wonderful here when it's miserable elsewhere.
And vice versa. (The UP is gorgeous right now. Gulf Coast is Hot/Humid)

It's always been that way in my experience. Although I fully admit that when I was younger, June through August was a lot easier to bare. I could play/work all day shirtless and sweat through it as if it was normal. In my 20's and early 30's I was in construction and had a 6-pack and a tan. ?

Now I'm an indoor air conditioning sissy during the summer. I can jump on the tractor or work in the barn until about 10am and after 6pm. That's 8 hours of daylight that this old man avoids if possible.

Agreed, what the hell happened to us! ?

UGADawg96's map looks like it sets you right on target for a heavy deluge of rain. Take care of those granddaughters! Stay safe!

Just topped the diesel tank off and got an extra 5 gallons of gas for the generator. Sitting on the porch now drinking beer and waiting for things to go sideways out here in Fulshear! Unfortunately, the little blue dot is me...

They keep moving that dang thing to the east. Now like Paul, I'm right in the bullseye.

Having said that, there's no indication it's going to stall. Hopefully zips right through. I'd like to see less than 8" of rain on the south side of the big city please. :)
