First time Ford owner. Add my truck to the list of shuddering Powerboosts. I bought my '21 Powerboost in December '21 and started having problems in January. Reverse brake assist stopped working and the onboard generator sporadically stopped working.
Took it in January and they said they need to order a part and they'd call me when it comes in.
Fast forward to the end of March '22 and I never got a call.
I called and they told me they have no open ticket and no history of me ever being there...
They wanted me to wait another 3 weeks until they had an opening so I contacted Ford corporate who basically told me "noted" so I left an honest Google review and the service manager called me the next day, apologized and said they want to get me in as soon as possible.

When I brought the truck in I told them I've also been experiencing a shudder during acceleration at different speeds. A manager drove the truck with me and was able to feel the shuddering and he says he feels it mostly in 8th gear.
They had the truck for 5 days and supposedly fixed everything except the shudder. They told me they need to replace the converter, which I'm assuming they mean the torque converter.
Then they told me that the part is on back order until June 10th and they recommend me leaving the truck at the dealer until it's fixed. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it took longer than June 10th.
$75k for this garbage. The payment is higher than my first mortgage and this is what I get.

I am beyond pissed off. I haven't even had the truck for 6 months and they want me to not have it for at least 2 months.

I'm considering just getting it back from them and driving it until the part comes in, especially after hearing all these stories of people's truck's not being fixed after being at the dealer multiple times. At least I could enjoy my truck instead of driving an older base model F150.

It's sad because I really like this truck other than those issues.

No way am I leaving my truck with the dealership if it is drivable. And I'm not surprised the torque converter is on backorder. It seems any Powerboost specific part is very difficult to get currently.

In fact, if part availability wasn't such a nightmare, most warranty repairs would be like the world used to be. In/out and the customer is on their way. But these days? A nightmare waiting to happen.

I agree. Based on what I've read in this thread, I don't have any confidence that after I've waited for 2 months that my truck will be fixed.
The shudder I'm feeling isn't catastrophic so I'm not extremely worried about it.

Has anyone's shuddering resulted in the truck breaking down?

The dealer told me they don't recommend me driving it because it might make the problem worse or leave me broken down on the side of the road.

I just returned from a 2400km trip pulling a 24’ trailer with two SxS on it so around 5000lbs. I did worry a bit about it failing and leaving on some Pennsylvania Mountain Road but no issues. Ram highest octane fuel I could find, ram in every Drive Mode, the only thing that made a difference was getting the rpm’s higher or a lower gear.

drive it til it breaks and THEN maybe they can find the cause.

While the term "shudder" can cover a lot of different maladys, the specific shudder related to what I believe is lugging, isn't likely to break anything quickly. But if it is indeed a symptom of lugging, it very well could damage/wear in the long-term.

At the risk of echoing, I would drive around it. If it is that kind of shudder.

Chased a shudder in my old Crown Vic for about two months.
Virtually every mechanic that looked at it claimed torque converter shudder.
New convert and fluid flush—same thing
Turned out to be a couple of coils acting up.
Replaced 2 coils and it was like a new car again

I am curious as to any of the owners smell a burnt carbon odor in the cabin when the truck is shuddering ? It is very similar to the the odor that was getting to the 5 gen Explorers cabin when you go WOT.

Well depending where you live and the lemon laws there, if you do let it sit there for 2 months you can file for lemon law especially if they don't fix it.

I've been driving around for the last couple days now on ECO mode, it seems to me that the shuddering does not happen when in this mode ?
