Anyone experienced this or have any idea? I take truck through carwash weekly so have to fold mirrors. Left only folds halfway until cycled a few times. Right folds completely. Bad driver cabling? Not enough lubrication?

I'll likely take it in for warranty look at next service unless someone knows a simple fix.

Had that happen to me 1 maybe 2 times in 7 months (8,000 miles). I park my truck in a 'narrow' garage, so I fold them in/out at least twice a day. When it happened to me all I did was fold them back out, then when they came in the second time, they folded all the way in.

If it is a frequent occurrence, I believe there is 'resetting' procedure for them...

Hi there! Can you send us a PM with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I’d be happy to look into this on my end.

Did you ever get this figured out? My LH mirror is doing the same thing, but when I hit the button again it doesn't fold all the way back out. I've tried the reset procedure multiple times with no luck.

NO. The Ford rep. put me through a "call here" "call there" maze. They ended up only referring me to the local dealership after wasting my time making me think that they were going to take charge of the situation.

When it does not fold completely, I manually do it. The unfold works as the motor eventually catches.

Mine is also the Left side. I plan to put the item on my to do list along with the pending recalls, for my next dealership visit. I run a lot of social media and might have to threaten putting public pressure on Ford if they do not address this.

The hangup like usual is that "well if it does not duplicate for us then we can't fix it" This has led me to video record EVERY time I retract the mirrors so I do catch it live so they can not argue. Pictures aren't good enough. I have an unlimited car wash pass so I retract the mirror 2-3 times per week.

Sorry this won't help, but this issue was one that I had dealt with on my old 2019 Silverado that they could never fix. Maybe 1 out of 15 times the passenger side wouldn't close at all.

I’m having this same issue. My driver’s side tow mirror doesn’t always unfold.

I'm a week I to having my truck, so learing curve is still pretty steep.
I have auto fold on and it stopped working. Truck was linex'd today, so it may be something the installer did. Either way, I went into settings, turned autofold off, turned truck off. Turned it back in, enabled auto fold and it works again. I know it's a different issue, but maybe try that and see if it corrects the issue

I did that and thought it was a one time glitch. Then today it was really bad.

Took a half dozen fold/unfold attempts to make it work. I ended up having to push the mirror slightly as it attempted to unfold. Not at all confidence inspiring after less than a week of ownership.

I hear you on that. My friend went with an XLT last year to avoid the power option. I wanted leather with heated and ventilated seats. I had an issue with the tow mirrors before I even signed the papers Wednesday. I was playing with the mirrors and they stopped working. Turns out the motor will time out to protect them from overheating. After a couple minutes they worked fine again. So keep that in mind if your folding and telescoping and the quit on you

That’s good to know. I specifically wanted Lariat for power folding mirrors and heated steering wheel. Mostly because I want to make sure they fold every time it’s locked so nobody walks into them, especially when we are camping.

Have you folks tried the mirror synchronizing procedure in the Owner's Manual?

To reset the mirrors perform the following steps:
1. By hand, fold or retract both mirrors.
2. Using the power folding/power telescoping mirror control switch, operate the mirrors until you hear an audible click.
3. Operate the power folding or power telescoping mirrors an additional 3 to 4 times to synchronize the mirrors.
Note every step above is important for the procedure to work (e.g. ya gotta start by manually pushing both mirrors fully folded, then push and hold the 'unfold' button until you hear that rather loud 'click / snap' in the mechanism).

The need to re-synchronize may arise any time someone bumps / moves the power mirrors manually (as in a crowded parking lot)

I’ll try this today. Thanks for posting it.

I had the same issue after going through the car wash for the first time.
I sprayed lube into the openings when folded in and it's worked every time since. I auto fold them every time I get out.

Mine sounds like they are braking every time they fold, with all the plastic on plastic screeching noises... :/
