Tire rubbing conundrum finally fixed...

(2022, Plat 20" Hancook AT2 275/60/20)

So, many have complained about stock tires\rims, rubbing on stock height trucks and a couple weeks ago I made an adjustment, that stopped one area of rubbing, but still one persisted.

Here is what I did a couple weeks ago. Closed the 1.25" gap at the front of the wheelwell with a zip tie.

And here is what I did today after I heard more tire rubbing backing out of the driveway and making a sharp turn. I drilled tiny holes in the wheelwell liner for the zip tie to go through.

On the passenger side I drilled a hole and looped through a little opening that was already there.

Then on the drivers side, I drilled the same hole in the liner and looped under the little mounted plug.

I was able to pull the liner back about 1.75"-2.00" on both sides.

This is very embarrassing to Zip Tie fixes on an $80,000 truck. I can understand if I had adjusted height, or replaced with aftermarket rims and tires, but everything is stock and I know others are complaining as well.

I have tested this and for the first time since owning my truck, I have NO tire rubbing on the truck.

Mine rubbed when in reverse steering wheel hard right. Inner inner wheel well/slash guard was the culprit. Zip tied pulling it away from tire closer to frame fixed. ZIP tie on an 80k truck. Ford come on!!!!

I really want molded plastic wheel well liners for the front. I wasn't a fan of the compacted rodent fur at any point, but after Texas started putting out salt, I am now worried about it holding onto corrosive salt and quietly eating away at metal that I am fond of. I'm also a bit skeptical of cleaning packed clay off of it vs smooth plastic.

Thank you for this, it solved my problem and the dealer couldn't figure it out until I showed them this. My front left wheel well liner was really loose and the liner and clips were rubbing the back inside part of the tire and making a terrible squeal noise up to about 30 mph. Appreciate you solving it and posting.

Agreed that this should not happen with a stock configuration. After adding a 2" level and 34" tires, I needed to add some zip ties to the front fender liners and adjust the crash bars to prevent rubbing, but when making modifications, creative engineering is to be expected.

Thanks. I have this problem too on the right wheel well against the engine. I zip tied the front part behind the bumper, but couldnt quite get an idea of where to go with the engine side. Absolutely pathetic build quality.

Huh, and here I was hoping this was just a cost cutting issue on the "new" 2024 models. I'm not really mad, but definitely disappointed that Ford is so sloppy. Body gaps/grille alignment are off as well.

I guess nobody is worried about quality when we all keep buying their B team reject products. :sadface:

Ran across the same thing on my new 2025 with PB. Zip ties it is... although black ties would be more subtle than your white ones.

Ran across the same thing on my new 2025 with PB. Zip ties it is... although black ties would be more subtle than your white ones.
It's all I had at the time. Replaced them with black later even though no one would see it, it still kept me up at night

I noticed your original post was over a year and a half ago. Has there been any negative consequences show up from this? For example, on the driver side where you mounted the zip tie around the mounted plug, or have the holes you drilled started to tear, have you had to replace zip ties because they went bad, etc??? I need to do this too. Thanks.

Something is missing there, my truck had screws but were not screwed into anything. Did the ziptie thing and rubbing has been gone ever since

Sorry I am just now seeing this...
I have had NO issues after this cheap fix. I did replace the original whites with blacks (I only had whites originally). No tears, nothing has come loose and still no rubbing, give her a try..
