I have a powerboost platinum. Today I put it into reverse and heard a loud slapping sound as it rolled backward, like something was wrapped around the wheel or drive shift. Does it in forward as well but not nearly as loud. Can hear it from both sides and it increases in frequency as it speeds up. Also it jumped from 1st to 8th gear from a dead stop. Not getting any codes.Anyone else heard of this issue?

People have been posting that the heat shield near the drive shaft has been coming loose. Have you crawled under to take a look? There are a few threads on here and f150forum.com

I have looked under and didn't see anything loose or hanging. Heat shield looks good

Check the tire treads, there could be something stuck like a rock or pebble. It's surprising how loud it can be, though normally they pop out at speed.

I checked the tread on the tires, looked for any bubbles or deformations too. It has become a metallic sound close to center line of the truck. I'm worried it is Transmission or drive shift related.

I saw a thread about a driveshaft recall and Ford will send out notices June 14th....I believe it was only 3.5 with max tow. Two piece drive shift was assembled wrong and could lead to failure.

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/2021-ford-f-150-recalled-over-defective-driveshafts.4140/

Can you replicate the sound 100% of the time? If so let it be the dealers issue.

I had the 10spd in my 2019 5.0 and had more issues with that transmission from the start of that truck than one could imagine. That transmission in comparison to my 2021 it seems this transmission is so much smoother and feels tighter, I also have the 2.7 now. But keep us updated will be curious to hear result.

Mine has Loud banging noise and thump in reverse in the shop now for that and several other issues. This truck is a one piece driveshaft.

My 12,000 mile power boost with max tow did the exact thing today. It sounded like a flat tire when I took off. Thump, thump, thump. Brought it to the local dealer, not the one I bought if from and didn’t get much of a response. Told me they would check to see if I ran over something and caused the damage first. I could leave it and they would look at it when they could but no loaner/rental even though I paid for first day rental on my ESP. I said no thanks. My dealer is only 35 miles across town but I didn’t want to go over 30 mph or so because of the noise. I just got back from a 5,800 mile vacation trip hauling an ATV trailer and didn’t notice a problem. I’ll call my dealer tomorrow. Kind of BS treatment especially with a 100,000 mile ESP take it to any dealer warranty on a 4 month old truck.

Took mine in to get it checked. They dropped the drive shift and found a heat shield touching the top of the shaft. Easy fix and they took care of the other recalls.

Its was the heat shield hanging down rubbing on the driveshaft. Glad I found this post. Never good to hear metal on metal rubbing but turned out to be an easy fix.

Just curious, has anyone put the heat shield back on themselves? If so, what did you use as an adhesive? Mine fell down a couple weeks ago and I'm thinking of putting it back on next weekend. I'd get the dealer to do so, but don't want to go in for only the heat shield (plus the wait time to the appointment and potentially being truckless for a day) and I'm tired of looking at the piece in the house.

Can someone take a picture of where the piece goes? I pulled mine off when I saw it hanging down and was going to put it back on today, but I can't see any place that it would go. There's only one slightly tacky spot I could find close to where the heat shield was hanging, but there's nothing to stick it too there. I looked along the entire length above the drive shaft and nothing looked out of place either.
