I’m very impressed with the stock running boards on my Tremor. Anti-slip surface is a bonus.

Whenever I see "the best" in a post title I know it's clickbait (everyone has different preferences).

EDIT 11/15/2025 - the manufacturer has changed this product to a two-piece butt-jointed design  , much less desireable, IMO, please see this post.

Here's what's proven to be the best for me, the features I like are:
  • Wheel-to-wheel
  • Full-thickness 100% cast aluminum welded & machined 1-piece step (Not a thin extrusion; No pop-on / bolt-on end caps; No separate rubber tread)
  • Hell-for-stout steel brackets use OE mounting points
  • Clean and simple appearance

I’ve had a lot of trucks with running boards but I never wanted to spend the money for the amp boards. I put the Amp boards on my 2022 and I am amazed. They are the perfect height for me to get in and out. The stock ones were too high up. Well worth the money when you get older and appreciate an easy step to get in and out.

I pulled the stock running boards off of my truck because they bolt to the (aluminum) body. If that hits something, it's gonna crank on thin aluminum sheet metal and bend it. I would be thrilled to get a frame mounted running board/step, but I can't find any available. For me, a body mounted step is no better than the part that I removed.

This is the way. They are the nearly identical to the Raptor boards as well and available from Ford Parts for our "lesser" trims. Love them on my XL.

I really liked the stocks on my 22 over my 15 by a larger margin.

Were the Amp Xtremes worth the price of my barely 2 year old and soon to be 4 year old climbing into their seats on there own?

Absolutely.

I wish they were wheel to wheel and I would pay for more robustness (they are robust for what they are, but they are not going to save a rocker/door from a high point rock/edge).

These still holding up ok?? I have a 21 lariat supercab. Not many wheel to wheel options outside of white knuckle sliders.

Looks like yours are 1 piece?? The ones on that link now look to be 2?
Yes, mine are a one-piece casting the full-length each side, and yes, looking at the product link now it's clear that they have changed to a two-piece butt-jointed design for each side.

Interesting to note that the installation instructions linked on the website as of this moment do not reflect the butt-jointed design, maybe that will change, too.

I'm sure that reduces shipping cost significantly (eliminates higher-rate 'overlength' packaging), but IMO significantly reduces the desirability of the product. When I bought back in June 2022 the product price was $293 and the shipping cost to me in Texas was $183.

An unfortunate trade-off to my way of thinking, but thanks for the heads-up, I've edited my original post accordingly. I'm very glad I got them when I did, timing, it seems, is everything.
