I bought a 21 with 25 k on it. It apparently has hd shocks. Heres my problem: when coming out of a turn, the truck rocks and roles. I need to be at a snails pace to limit this. Certainly not the ride we were expecting.

Never done anything suspension wise to any of my trucks in the past and i assume that the hd shocks has to do with the towing ability of the truck. The truck is stock with original Goodyears 275/60r 20 115T. I think the tires are dual ply tires?

So my goal is to just temper the ride to what would be a normal ride for a F150. Thoughts?

thanks

First thing I did was upgrade front and rears to Bilstein 6100 in front and 5100 rear. Truck was to soft. Added a rear sway bar also. Lots of body roll in corners. Now it rides good and tows way better. No boating down the road. Everyone’s ride feel is subjective.

Your Platinum probably has the Ford CCD system, or Continuously Controlled Damping, and not regular shocks.

I found the same thing on my 2022. I installed the RAS HD kit to stabilize the ride with and without a load. Fixed the problem.

Do you have the CCD shocks?

You do not have CCD. A CCD shock would look similar to this:

What don’t you like about the ride? What type of ride are you looking for? Rear shocks are cheap and easy to do. Without knowing what you’re after it’s hard to give an idea for you to try. Body roll a sway bar will help a lot.

I don’t want to feel like I am in a boat when I turn. Rock and Roll! I love the truck other than this and I know it’s something simple, that’s why I am asking. Have zero experience with troubleshooting suspension.

That’s how my truck felt I thought. Added the rear shocks your choice of brand. I went with Bilstein 5100 and added a rear sway bar. Huge improvement. I tow so I also upgraded front coil-overs. You don’t need those to feel the difference in shocks and sway bar. Start with shocks see how it feels. Then add sway bar.

Thanks when I ran the number on the shock and some other info I found, I was thinking that the heavy duty shocks and hd tires.

Tires will make a difference too. I went to 10 ply for towing also. Stronger sidewalls. What air pressure are you running? You can start by increasing pressure to stiffing tires and see if you feel any difference. What tires does the truck have? Stock tires are more for MPG then ride.

Has the original Goodyear wranglers. I run them at 35.

Try increasing to 40 see if you notice anything. I run 40# in my tires. Start with shocks see if you notice a change. I installed mine in the driveway in 30 min. If you jump on bumper how much voice do you get? Shocks could just be bad or weak. Sway bar will help most with body roll.
