As the title implies, have a cracked taillight. All driving aids work, BLIS works, no lights went out, etc. So when the taillight was cracked, nothing was affected-all cosmetic.

With the repair estimate (which included fixing a few other scuffs), a recycled taillight was $875 (!!!!). I did a quick search on eBay and I can find some that are much less, but I want to make sure they fit. I was looking in particular at this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/395524573334?fits=Submodel:King+Ranch|Year:2021|Model:F-150&itmmeta=01J3ZZJEMGBTFQFKGPREXANBDZ&hash=item5c171a0896:g:ZksAAOSwog1mjpQV&itmprp=enc:AQAJAAABACd9mEmrv3hCqExPotQcZgcK6T2RO+ilVNhnVJjO+ZsUEzgH9v6h0dLM32QFsid6tCMH2IBCzdNHXg2cOGPBqsxosgct+emVDLRNekGGVCKIknnAvjnnCIziSsKqCORcYlngS82tlpaEHbYLeQsY9avZ4ZdD6vvtChBVm8Gm/RZXJiZhpO3OOCzSuUUVN4eo9wx8a07RjNjCkH0lT80HDosiy6ji8qQHPHcUznSHbxq2DnaUkNMWoYWclFfjilg/0hnKYgbPWJr4NOnEXXgtnxwU4+rMbLv2nWc85FjFNSzM6wwe47k66EyzCJh0YgyPC3/KcrzL+xFTM7UGHVKSEw8=|tkp:Bk9SR7Dqyf-fZA&LH_ItemCondition=1000|1500

Says it's an LED with blind spot. From the pictures it looks like it really is just plug and play with the BLIS module..

Feels really simple, but of course with this truck, I'm wondering if I'm missing something? Do I need to do any Forscan updates? Would really like to save $700...

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure on my 22 XLT that the BLIS module just pulls out and can be re-installed on the replacement.

That's what it looks like to me as well, but I've read elsewhere that may not be the case. However, my situation may be different as the BLIS module in my truck wasn't damaged, which I'm sure can undoubtedly happen in other situations.

What I can't tell from that ebay listing is whether it can accept the old BLIS module. No way that it includes a proper BLIS module for $170. You might also have to make some FORScan changes depending on which trim level that you currently have. Your profile says "Avalanche" which is an F150 trim that I'm not familiar with.

Fair enough, I need to change that! I have a '21 King Ranch 601A.

first and foremost, $170 for a new tail light seems super ass suspect!

secondly, The BLIS module is four torx screws on backside of tail light. take screws out and pull.
once you pull out the BLIS, theres a connector you need to disconnect.

and thirdly, $170 for a new tail light screams chinese junk

That is a Chinese taillight clone.

Your mileage may vary on that. I don't think anyone has tried them on forum. They flooded the market last summer with cheap headlights and taillights for 21-23 trucks.

You can reuse the BLIS module if it is not damaged.
Alternatively, I have a brand new set of modules I will sell cheap.
A little forscan alteration and the truck recognizes them without issue.

Old saying you get what you pay for.
Thanks for answering my question! You’ve been very helpful. Guess I should just pay $875 for a taillight housing then.

Thank you-that is sort of my question. If the BLIS module is working, just a new taillight housing will suffice, correct?

So what’s a good price, then? Certainly can’t be $875 (which is about what my payment is). If I don’t need a BLIS module, which seems to be the case, then all I need is the housing. It’s really all cosmetic at the end of the day.

Is the original taillight housing that’s currently cracked on my truck that Ford put on at the factory not also Chinese junk (or something similar)?

Something like this one, new condition with BLIS installed. Just swap out the BLIS and you won't have to program it. Hold onto it in case yours dies later.

$500
https://www.ebay.com/itm/256299216870

Look around more you might find a deal.
Sometimes members here sell taillights too.
