22 F150 Platinum, when the tailgate is down and not enough weight holding it down (like a bicycle) while driving it bounces like a cheap friend when the bar tab is placed on the table.. Is this normal, if so, any fixes?

Yup, sucks. Never had a truck do this. Probably normal due to how light the tailgate is.

Yep, noticed this when hauling a few sheets of light 4x8 plywood.

I now run a short ratchet-strap from one of the 'clamp holes' in the tailgate to the safety-chain loop on my hitch receiver in such situations - no bouncing tailgate.

My XLT has the step and pole tailgate and it's not light. Soft auto open, but you feel it when closing.

Mine has the step and is electric. Quite a bit of weight for sure. Don’t know how the power up will like the strut so I’ve ruled that option out for now. I do like the strap to hitch idea.

Ditto - my Lariat, like your Platinum, is with step and power up / down.

It doesn't take much to stop the bounce - I got the skinniest / lightest / cheapest ratchet strap from local Harbor Freight and cut it to length just for this purpose - stashed handy in my rear door cubby, quick & easy to use with no excess strap to manage.
