I found a crack in the driver side LED tail light lense of my ‘21 Lariat Powerboost. The crack was right along a manufacturing seam and spread quickly. Soon after there was moisture inside and I had to replace it at a crazy cost. I’m now seeing an identical crack on the passenger side - same place along the seam. I haven’t been in any accidents, taken the truck off road or had any dramatic temperature swings. I suspect it’s a manufacturing defect in the lense plastic - can’t handle the stresses at the corner. Has anyone else had a similar experience? At $1500 a pop this is not ok, will have to switch to Morimoto.

Wow that is interesting. The location doesn't make sense to me. I had that on an old truck from impact when someone backed into my truck with a large truck and drove off.

Given the location of the cracks, I would definitely try to have it covered under warranty from the dealership that you purchased it from.

I can see Ford balking at absorbing the cost on your first issue. How could they tell what the heck happened there? But seeing two in essentially an identical location really bolsters your argument I would think. I thought these taillights were in the $800-$1000 range but you're saying it ran $1500 for one? Crazy world.

That exact problem happend to me. One dealer said no, the other dealership said okay , we will send pics and get approval and fix it as it was obvious that you can not feel the crack in the outside of the tail light.

Same exact issue on 22' Lariat Powerboost with identical crack patterns. I noticed the driver side crack form about two weeks after buying the truck (pre-owned with 13k miles on it), and found condensation shortly after. Within a couple weeks, I noticed an identical crack on the passenger side. Took it to the dealership for inspection and while they agreed the symmetric/identical crack patterns were odd, they declined to cover under warranty based on their reading of Ford's guidance. They told me I was welcome to open a case with Ford Customer Care and they might be able to authorize a warranty repair. I did that and was told that because the dealership declined coverage there was nothing they could do. Sure seems like a classic way to screw the customer in my opinion, and not a great intro. to Ford as a first time owner! I escalated with a supervisor at Customer Care and am having the issue re-evaluated at the dealership soon (while its there to service a separate powertrain issue that just came up). Will update the post as it unfolds, thanks to all for posting your experiences here. This thread feels like a lifeline at the moment!
