'21 Platinum FX4 157" WB Powerboost with 41K miles. I've used it to pull a 20' travel trailer from VA to WA. Used the 7.2 kW Generator to run the trailer (AC, lights, water heater, etc.) multiple times on that trip. Hauled multiple motorcycles in the bed for track days and such. It has been the best truck I've owned to date.

2021 F150 Limited Powerboost
Hi,

I'm currently going the Buy Back route with Ford regarding my MY22 F150 Lightning. I'm interested in picking up another F150 and the Powerboosts have my attention. From what I've read, it seems as if the MY21 and MY22 Powerboosts haven't been that reliable. Many sites suggesting just stick with the 3.5 Ecoboost instead for various reasons.

How's everyone's reliability been? What about mpgs? Are you getting the advertised mpg benefits of the hybrid powertrain? What about regen braking? Going from an EV to ICE, I'll miss the regen braking the most.
Power boost Regeneration works similar to the Lightning. In the summer months I can get over 30mpg almost at will (31.9mpg best) and it's rarely under the 24mpg advertised. The MPG is best in congested stop and go traffic since the electric motor can be utilized more often. My only complaint is that the electric motor and battery is too small to run solely on electric. Reliability so far has been great, but I have less than 20K on the clock. I wouldn't recommend the Limited unless you'll be driving only on paved roads and even then, the ride quality will be rough with the 22" wheels.

PB is an absolutely amazing truck. It is a LONG way from perfect even with existing tech, but it's hands down the best truck made today.

I visit the Denver area frequently. The rolling nature of the terrain there translates to better mileage. Haven't been there long enough to generate your numbers, but clearly it is better while there. I agree that the traction battery could be improved by up-sizing. As to the motor? I find it reasonably sized. I really like the A/C that runs engine off!

I would love to see specialized Powerboost modes like camping mode for instance.

Keep in mind that an electric motor is capable of producing about 2 1/2 times running torque when starting from all stop. As I see things the beauty of this truck's electric motor is its ability to run from a standing start.

I would Love to drive your truck for even a day. I don't know if they vary that much from truck to truck, Or the type and kind of driving matters that much. I've never seen my instant over 27 EVER. My best "This trip" is 25. I'm usually at 19 on the whole tank. Maybe 20 on the odd occasion. But I'm leaning towards the drive mattering that much. Its hilly here with alot of stop and go at 50+ MPH.

I do have my moments... This trip was from atop Red Table Mountain near Gypsum CO. The whole return trip of 159 miles came out to around 29mpg but it's a serious amount of downhill highway although a good part of it was bumper to bumper stop and go. This was the first 9.5 miles of that return trip. The fill up for the 650ish mile tank of gas was over 24mpg (hand calculated).

2021 F-150 King Ranch PowerBoost - no longer have this.
OK, my '21 PowerBoost King Ranch Fx4, Max Tow is relatively low miles (approaching 13K) but has done some towing of a travel trailer (about 6,600 pounds).

I've had the driver-side pneumatic seat support and massage system go out and be replaced but otherwise it's been pretty trouble-free. Upgraded the mirrors to trailer-tow.

The FX4 has a benefit which some may not realize. The skid plate system covers the catalytic converter. That doesn't mean the catalytic converter can't be stolen but does mean that a catalytic converter thief will probably choose to steal someone else's catalytic converter rather taking off the skid plate and then taking the catalytic converter.

We are pretty happy with our truck. We'd probably not have gotten such a fancy truck but that one was the one available when we needed it.

If you'll be using the ProPower system, it's a no-brainer. If not, stick with the 3.5 EB.

Most people have covered the various amazing qualities of the PB and I agree with every one of them!
In addition to ask those amazing things our PBs do, I am very impressed with the effortless acceleration from any speed.. And how completely drama free it is.. The power is just there.. You barely hear the engine.. Or even feel it..
I have driven several other trucks and they all reinforce what I have in my PB!

At 25k miles, I have just 19 mpg over the lifetime.. 80% of my miles are over 75 mph..

I guess you can't have it all..

Not sure if it was mentioned, but 600-700 miles per tank of fuel. It's not as cheap as EVs to fill, but when you need to go the distance, even the 30g tank of the PB has substantial legs. Even towing at 10 MPG it will out-range an empty lightning and refill in 10 minutes.
