I'm no mechanic, but maybe someone can answer the question...if you are leaving them at stock height do you need a spring compressor to install them? Or can you just disassemble the strut, remove the old shock, and slide in the new one?
If you buy new shocks, the front springs that are on your truck, need to be removed and installed on your new shocks. The spring compressor is available for individuals to use at home can be a bit sketchy.

Some shops will remove your springs and reinstall them on shocks, some won’t. If you do find a shop that’s willing to do it you’re gonna pay $300-400 just to have the shocks assemblies, disassembled and reassembled
