I took a video from outside the truck, in park, hood closed. So I tried it in park several times, I managed to hear it once. Seems like other noise going on makes it harder to hear, or maybe its more faint.
Mine goes in on the 21st. I also noticed it does the sound when i shut it off (everytime reliably), right as everything stops, and sometimes while its warming up or even slowing down without the brake, just while its engine braking. Its possible its been doing it at these times too, and not just with lightly depressing the gas pedal, or maybe its getting worse... also, I actually think it may be an electrical noise sound. It doesnt sound like mechanical parts rubbing, but im 60/40 on this.Just to update, I have an appointment for this on 12/23/2022. Hopefully I get some information.
Mine also does this. Even when idling while using remote start. Definitely mechanical. I’m not sure if it’s getting worse or if I’m just used to it.M

Yeah, that video seems pretty conclusive that its mechanical. My electrical noise theory was more based on the sound in the cab or standing beside it with the hood closed.Mine also does this. It's the wastegate actuator system. The 5th gen Rangers are notorious for doing this at startup. 3-4 loud squeaks at start then it stops. While annoying it's not necessarily a sign of there being anything wrong. You can try shooting some high temp silicone lubricant on the actuator arm ball joint connection points to see if that will quiet it down. It may but may not. Chances are the dealer will tell you they couldn't replicate it or it's normal operation and not do anything about it.Yeah, that video seems pretty conclusive that its mechanical. Mine doesn’t stop. I can hear it when I drive. We’ll see what the dealer says… I’m sure they’ll give some line of normal operation. It's the wastegate actuator system. Yep, they said that it was normal operation. I didn’t have high hopes to begin with. So, in turn, a typical dealership service visit. It's the wastegate actuator system.
