So, this is weird, in a not good sort of way

Went out to the truck today and saw this. No idea. No other signs of attempt at theft or vandalism. Haven't been on any particularly rough roads lately, or in the bush, where some freakish chance of something poking it just right could have occurred. There is a springy type plastic part of a clip that normally would hold it in place, that is broken.

For some reason the pic isn't loading as normal.

I see it -- the forum images are acting up again. that thing can't just 'fall out' like that, someone was up to something.

There's nothing to be gained going into that though. There's no bus wire in mirror.

Well, the truck has been parked outside the last few days, as I've been working on something in it's usual place but we've lived here 15 yrs. (God how time flies) and not a hint of any troubles.

Could have happened at a store parking lot the other night and I just didn't notice it I suppose. The light still works. I've got it fastened with electricians tape but that won't last.

Where do you recommend I get a new one from?

Did they break the plastic spring clip that should be on the other side? I have a spare one for the passenger side but that doesn't do you any good
kl3z13b375a is the part you're looking for. You can just plug it in right there, no need to take the mirror off or apart. Simple install.

There's a remote possibility it could have been damaged at the factory and finally failed the last little bit. I too would be puzzled seeing it. Did you find the broken piece anywhere?

Yep, I have it. Broke at the bend. It must have just been hanging on by a thread, because as soon as I touched it, it came off in my hand.

I'd just glue it in place with epoxy or E6000. When or If that fails, purchase a replacement.

I already ordered a new one. With tax and shipping, $25 (+-) and should be here in a few days. As mentioned, the lamp does still work so, guess I'll keep it, just in case.

Plastic repair particularly of 'springy' parts is more miss than hit. As someone who mods and tinkers with everything, I'd order the replacement and be done with it myself.

With a toothpick and some flexible adhesive, it could probably be made to be alright. Not the spring clip, the base of the assembly to it's holder but the truck is too new for me to cobble on.
