Washed my truck today by hand for the first time since last summer. Noticed a lot of what look like small yellow rust spots on the paint i mean they are everywhere and they dont wash off. My truck is silver and a year old

More than likely it’s rail dust which generally happens when the truck is first transported from the factory to wherever. They have a product for that: https://a.co/d/bPdXGHL

I've gotten those spots on all of my vehicles since 2010, but it is by the most noticeable on ones that are painted white. I have no idea what causes them, but it seems to be environmental. Some light rubbing compound takes them off pretty easily.

Those spots your wondering about are from snow plow blades, if you use CLR they come right off. Here in Alberta Canada white vehicles get that real bad. As a plow drives down the road the blade sheds microscopic steel particles, they stick to our vehicles and usually can't notice them unless you have a light color vehicle.

Yup, like was said above it is rail dust. My spring time routine after the snow is gone and roads have been rained on a few times is a good hand was and then clay bar off all the rail dust.

It also come from brake rotors.
I know brake dust will create a film on paint, it won't cause color flecks in the paint will it?

The rotors will, especially if the pads are worn down to bare metal. I’ve been in the wash and Detail business for over 20 years. I’ll see it all the time.
