When using my iphone with carplay, I am not able to use the SIRI voice command. SIRI will respond, but will only say "Sorry, I can not show you the result while you are in the car". I've tried everything to change this. I've removed and reinstalled my iphone, carplay, reset carplay, etc. My phone by itself works fine and SIRI follows all commands given on the phone. When paired with carplay she just won't cooperate. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?

Yes, the button calls up SIRI just fine. It's when you ask SIRI to go to an address, or change a song on Apple music. Then she replies "Sorry, but I can't show you that result while you are in the car". It's like she can not do anything while you're driving. I've tried adjusting the focus category on my iphone and that does not work. It could be the download that Ford did recently. Since then, carplay and SIRI has not worked correctly.

Go to apps while in CarPlay

go to settings

check the various options. There may be an option turned on that prevents use of certain functions while driving.

Most issues resolve itself by rebooting. If you haven't tried that, reboot the infotainment and iphone at the same time and see if that fixes the issue or not. Initially, I thought the Focus was the culprit but you ruled that out so try to reboot if you haven't.

Hi, I had the same problem. Pull the power cable from where it inserts into the truck cable receptacle. Reinsert. Not on the phone side. If no improvement, restart your phone and put your pin in. One of the two should fix it. I noticed a difference between 12 and 13 iPhones, And local area. Siri works great in Chicago. 13 phone doesn’t lose signal like my 12 phone. I hope this works. Also hit the play button on your phone list app in info tainment center.

Also Siri won’t let you reply to a Telegram IMessage, but will to regular texting. Politics there I believe.

I tried rebooting the infotainment system by holding the fast forward and volume buttons at the same time, but didn't do the phone at the same time. I'll try that. Thanks

Out of curiosity, is it for all questions or certain ones?

Now I have tried resetting the infotainment system and phone. I've unplugged the USB end of the phone and plugged it back in, when connected by cable. Also pressed play on the phone list app. Siri will answer some questions and read messages, but she will not change songs on apple music or give directions when told to go to a destination. Her response is "Sorry, I can not show you the results when you are in the car". This is crazy.

My suggestion would be to check Focus Settings and see if you have a Driving Focus that automatically engages when CarPlay starts. Perhaps that is limiting what Siri can and can't do?

This may be pointless, but I had several instances where I was wondering if 'Dingus' heard me or understood me. I turned on "Always Show Siri Captions" and 'Always Show Request' so I can validate. I know there are a bunch of things that Apple disabled due to being a distraction to the driver. I haven't tried using her for music, but I often use "Hey Siri, take me Bojangles". In which case, she'll pull up Apple Maps and set up navigation to it. I'm using wireless Carplay, but I would assume that wired would be better. I also have no Focus stuff setup, as it used to auto respond to people that I was driving. Which iPhone do you have and are you on the latest IOS?

Well, believe it or not, now everything works correctly. The problem is, that I didn't do anything to correct it.. I believe that the new apple IOS 18.3.1, which downloaded recently on my iphone, somehow was not compatible with carplay. I'm wondering if either Ford or Apple did a quick update to the download, which made it compatible. Wish I knew what fixed it.
