First post of this forum.

I am a potential new F150 owner. I have always owned Toyotas, but after this 22 Tundra rollout and the issues they are facing, I refuse to buy a Tundra.

I am currently looking and have offers on a 24 XLT 4WD with the 5.0 V8. I plan on purchasing the Ford Protect warranty too.

I have seen people complain about transmission issues and was wondering if any of this was fixed in the 24s. I have always had very reliable trucks and I do not want to have transmission issues on a truck with low miles.

Anything I should know or consider before purchasing? Should I wait until later in the summer or fall to purchase?

I am all ears and am ready to listen to everything y'all have to say.

Thanks!

I had issues with my 2020 10 speed and read the issues were fixed for 21+, some still had some quirks that were resolved for 22+. My 2022 10 speed has been great both in reliability and just general use. Apparently there was a drum update or something on late 22's that I don't have and everything now has, but so far, it's been a great truck, unlike my 2020.

I don't think the 5.0 or 10 speed has been a widespread issue for this generation truck.

From what've I've read, the "issues" with the 10spd are related more to software mapping than mechanical. (I say, "read" because I've not yet taken possession of the '24 I ordered. However, I researched and compare capabilities, options, and issues prior to placing the order.)

Although I opted for the 3.5L, the 5.0 is a tired and true motor. Consistent performance with a broad option set for, "extra oomph" if and when desired.

I don't think it's a bad idea to get the Ford Protect ESP especially if you get the discounted prices from Granger, Ziegler, etc. In fact I got the 150k 8yr for my 3.5L Powerbost Lariat 502A. However, there's not as much that can go wrong with an XLT 5.0L V8 though so that is a configuration where I might actually pass on the ESP.

I owned two Tundras before buying my first F150 (and really my first American branded vehicle in my adult life) last year.

I really tried to buy a 3rd Tundra, but...
  • My dealership would not give me a firm price. Just said that it would be over MSRP
  • I couldn't order a truck, and my dealership said that if they could find one, it would come with several thousand dollars of upgrades that I did not want. I wanted a Limited with zero other options but was told that it was impossible to get one like that...that from the factory they already installed 2-3 options (again, that I didn't want).
  • It was a first year for a Turbo V6 in the Tundra

After that debacle, I found this site and found out about Granger (at the time doing deals at 3% UNDER INVOICE....now it's up to 4%), and found out that the Tremor was now being offered with a V8. I figured it was a sign....so in August 2022 I ordered a 2023 V8 Tremor, which arrived in Feb of 2023.

After a year of ownership, I LOVE the truck. I did buy the ESP, and am still sort of holding my breath regarding reliability, issues, etc. In terms of the transmission, while I have had zero issues, it is rough shifting at times.....most notable for me is when slowing down, and it does come clunky downshifting.

Other than that, the only other issue is the auto up feature on the windows taking a crap once in a while. It's easy enough to reset, but why in 2023 Ford hasn't nailed down auto up windows is crazy.

I have a 22 3.5 love the truck. My second 3.5. I use it to pull a 25 foot tt. No issues with either truck. I did buy extended warranty since it’s all computer. Only issue was stock crap battery. I just bought a good battery and all problems gone. Not sure I would go with a Power Boost seems most issues on here are those trucks.

This. - Even in a V8 XLT, at least for the entire term of any loan. Cheap insurance, Amigo...

I would go for it! Test drive them if you can to see what options and engines you prefer. What is your use case? Off-road, towing, land yacht, etc.?

Mainly just a family vehicle. It will probably be the main vehicle we use on trips.

Order from their dealership in Iowa?

Would they have to drive the truck down here?

What would the benefit be versus ordering from my local guy?

4% under invoice with no ridiculous dealer haggling. You would either fly out to the dealership in Iowa or you can work in arrange transport to bring the vehicle to you. You get a custom built vehicle to your exact specifications.

@Granger Ford , can you expand on why ordering from you is so incredibly great?

Is there a shipping company that this forum trusts that I could use to pickup and deliver the truck to Georgia?
