Shift knob question please

Hey everyone. Beach driving started and my first time in my 2022 150 XLT. Used the knob to switch to mud/deep sand mode and it never shifted out of first gear. Is this normal? Should I have just pushed the 4 high button?

Hi Eric, drive my Ecoboost on the beach quit a bit and know exactly what you’re talking about. I’ve found that if I accelerate to 15-20 it will shift into second or possibly third but won’t stay there long. Since most sand driving I do is 10mph it stays in first 99% of the time. Assume the computer keeps the revs up and the gearing low ??‍. I haven’t played with other modes as the sand mode grinds through the deep stuff just fine. Very good sand vehicle, pulled out a Jeep and a New Bronco last summer!

Thank you! our speed is 20 and tomorrow I'm gonna try just 4 wheel drive with the traction control off like all my other trucks lol
