So is the issue here that the upholstery wears on the hard edge of the lower seat trim?

That's what I gather. The plastic trim has a very sharp edge. Probably not an issue when in position to drive but gets squished if you slide in/out on the bolster, which is pretty much unavoidable.

bingo

even when i step out on running board, i still find my rear dragging over the seat sides
this has been the same in all of my last 4 fords the plastic is sharp, should have been rounded or a softer edge treatment

my belt also wears a spot about 3" up on back bolster about size of a quarter. i gave up trying to stop in in the last 4 fords. only vehicle it does not do it in is my wifes edge

my wife also made a few pillows like this to rest the old elbow on , on the door . plus a small one tucked into the cubby under door release to rest my banged up knee on, so the holster does not wear a hole in me

YOUR GLOVE BOX LIGHT IS ON
THE REAL ISSUE IS SLIDING A$$ OUT OF SEAT INSTEAD OF GETTING UP OUT OF SEAT USING RUNNING BOARD AND OH SHIT BAR.

That may have some credence but you shouldn't have to be a gymnast to get in and out of your vehicle without destroying the seat. It's bad design...that is THE root of the issue.

And why are you YELLING??? Are you still not over the glove box light?

Car door edge guard. I bought it for a different project but it's a metal reinforced edge moulding made to protect the edge of a door.
