Scratched window

I just picked up my 24” f150 BAP yesterday and I just noticed this morning that the rear driver side outside of the window is scratched all to shit, looks like that used a dull razor or sand paper to maybe scrape the outside edges of a sticker. I tried a polish compound but that didn’t do a thing. Is there anything that can be done or does it need new glass? Thanks

I had a vehicle in the past the wiper scratched my windshield. Went to a glass shop and a few other places all said nothing could be done had to replace glass. Hopefully thats not the case for yours but they should make it right on a brand new truck.

If it appears glass is all scratched up from removing stickers then make the dealer fix it. Any dealer worth your business should take care of an issue they created. They should be able to order new glass and have you bring truck in when it is ready to install.

Do you think that’s an easy swap or they might screw something else up?

There are very specific glass polishing compounds that may work, but that's not really your problem, it's theirs. You didn't order scratched glass.

I’m gonna call them tomorrow, hopefully it’s something other than ripping the door apart to replace the glass, I spent way to much to not worry about it.

It’s very cloudy out now so I really can’t get a good pic. When the sun was out this morning it was very noticeable, I also can’t feel any of the scratches so hopefully it’s an easy fix. So frustrating and waited over 4 months to come in.

door panel is a piece of cake to remove
but bottom line

its brand new and its scratched...let dealer make it right

I’m ready to just give it back, my daughter walked by the truck with the lights on and says to me why are the headlights all scratched up and I was like what. I’m going back to the dealership tomorrow this is totally unacceptable.

Those headlight swirls look like the typical unclean towel dry off, probably after iits first wash. They appear to be easily removable with a polish, and also easily repeated again if you’re not a perfectionist when washing. Haven’t seen your glass yet but having the dealer pull a door panel to replace a window is nbd.

10 years ago, I took my truck to a detailer guy that had a pneumatic buffer and buffed out an area I scratched using a nylon scrubbing pad. He buffed it for several minutes at a very high speed with acompound. This not only got the scratches out but created a spot where the glass was very much clearer than the windshield. If the windshield fogged up the buffed spot remained clear. So I think he actually heated the spot to the point of melting the surface. So call some detailing places and ask if they can high-speed buff it out.

The dealership is gonna replace the window under warranty.
