Newbie question, but how do you lockout 8 thru 10? We've only towed our trailer to the dealership for warranty work after one short flat haul to a nearby campground for shakedown.
Hit the minus button on the shifter and note the grayed out gears in the display.

Recommend to learn your transmission yourself and migrate to manual mode instead of letting it pick for you

The +/- buttons on the side of the gear shifter allow you to enable/disable gears. Press the - button once and 10th is "locked out" - twice removes 9th, thrice removes 8th, etc. Pressing + will re-enable them. 7th is the one-to-one gear; 8,9, and 10 are overdrive ratios

You should adjust the trailer brakes with the controller so they are doing most of the work. Far cheaper to replace brake pads than a transmission or torque converter.

Thanks for the info, hadn't tried the +/- yet, assumed it worked like my other cars where it just puts it in manual shift mode.

press the minus button on the shifter 3 times. It will grey out 10,9 and 8 on your dash. + to reengage those gears. You have to do this every time you shut off and restart the truck.
this allows the truck to rev higher and use the turbo less

I tow about 2k less than you. Tow Haul mode 100% of the time. The engine braking is good but you always wonder how it will do on longer gradients like say the Ike in Colorado. Obviously CC kicks off the moment you touch the brakes.

With Regenerative braking you'll get some help, but once that battery is full, its up to you, the regular brakes and engine braking to get it to the bottom safely.
