I know it is here some where a post on rust, but search has never worked worth a dam for me.
Just information on an XLT at my dealer that they just received. The axle and differential were painted and NO rust.

I think Ford finally started taking care of the rust. I got my ordered Lariat on June 9. Took a look under the truck and the differential was nice and black.

Can confirm. Took delivery of my Platinum that I ordered back in February yesterday and the diff / axle were black.
