Hello all,

This is my first time owning a pickup truck and I was wondering if the rust in these areas are of concern.

suspension, body chassis and the “pumpkin”.

I live in Canada where road salt is generously applied. However, I do run the truck through a car wash (with underbody rinse) on a weekly basis.

thanks for your comments.

Yup... All you can do is clean it and find a rust proofing or undercoating provider.

Its easy to say yup this is normal and it is what it is.

And no this should not be happening to a new vehicle and it wasn't normal in the past.

I realize these issues are purely cosmetic and the differential will never rust through but still.

I am thinking this is happening because of the supply chain issues and these trucks and or parts are sitting around open to the elements for months at a time.
Never had this issue on my previous Ford pickups my 2004 never had rust issues and when I sold it last year, frame and all suspension looked like new and I live in Canada. Sure it was oiled and well maintained.

Checking the other manufactures trucks and they do not seem to have the same issues to this extent from what I have seen.

It’s normal for Ford.

I'm in Canada and have had my truck since Aug '21. Had Krown do the rust proofing within a week of ownership and noticed a few little spots that I will touch up but overall pretty good through its first winter. With all the salt and brine they use I expected a lot worse.

I’ll probably find a cleaning solution and clean off those rusty areas and hit it with primer/paint. Let it dry and use some rustproof solution for the winter..
