Edit: 9/20. After posting on a FB forum. Someone mentioned that if you keep your foot on the step while it is open, then close the door, it might stay open. Well, this is indeed the case. Not sure if it’s necessarily good for the step, but the number of times that I would probably use that technique to keep it open, it probably wouldn’t hurt it. Just wanted to update this post to help others and answer the questions that haven’t been answered.

Just installed the rough country power running boards. They are a nice solid product. These mount to the preexisting bolts that OEM steps mount to. No drilling, just a decent amount of wire running. Really liking the way this truck is turning out. I can’t compare to amp, but I am happy with them. Install wasn’t too bad, but the instructions could definitely be a little more detailed. The steps also come with a switch where you can disable the steps, so they don’t deploy when a door is opened. It’s a pretty generic switch that you stick on to some place inconspicuous or where ever you please. Well I also wanted a way to have the steps be deployed when the doors are shut. Makes it easier for me to wash the roof. Was able to put a couple switches, inline, of the factory wiring. The steps are deployed by way of magnetic door triggers. This basically tells power board brain that the door is open and keeps the steps deployed. Installed the new switches on the panel that has the hood release. Also replaced the factory switch that RC supplies. Came out nice and clean.

top switch is the “don’t deploy” switch. The lower 2 are drivers side and passenger side “keep deployed” switches

pics of the switches I used from Amazon and the switch that comes with the kit.

A really sharp utility blade and went nice and slow. Also, you’re able to remove the motorized portion by removing several bolts and then unplugging. Little bit of work. Some of the bolts are kinda hard to get to and one of the plugs was a pain to get loose. Otherwise, no codes or anything from mine or anyone else that has removed theirs.

Do they not have optional extension buttons for them? I don't have the switch on my amps, but I can deploy them and pull the fuse easily.

Did you tape up or seal the plugs from the active air dam? I really want to remove it but scared it will throw codes.

No I didn’t. Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea with winter coming this way. From what I have read of others, I don’t believe they had either?

Looks Great! Any tips on running the driver side sensor and controller wires under the center console and carpet?

I actually ran it under the truck through one of the cross members and then up through a plug under the drivers floor board. Didn’t want to have to deal with all the other interior stuff.

@Soc4me Still happy with your RC boards after some time with them?

I'm considering these and the Go Rhino FWIW.

Yep. Still no issues and have been very happy with them.
Awesome. I just need to figure out a way to surprise my wife with them. She recently found out she has lupus and I wanted to get her something to make it easier for her to get into my pickup. She saw the wheels and tires and kind of grimaced yesterday and said "it looks like it's gonna be taller than your last truck." I wish it was me instead of her, who was sick........that's all I have to say about that.
