Power Running Boards Out

I understand in the NE it is advised to leave my 23 PB Lariat Running Boards in the out position (to prevent salt corrosion and drag on the hinges / actuators) - I see the "out" toggle in the Features / Power Running Boards but they pull back in when the speed sensors pick up more than 3 MPH ... How to I deploy them in the out position until Spring ? TIA

What maintenance is required? I haven't looked at them, are there pivot points to lubricate? Do you use dry lube of some sort?

When you wash the vehicle or every once in a wile use a garden hose to wash the salt off the hinges. you can lubricate them and it will be similar to this video below.
