So an update on my vehicle. Took it to the dealer yesterday, and it was trowing multiple trouble codes. They've been working with Ford Truck all day doing diagnostics and so far no luck figuring out the issue with the reverse brake assist. Looks like more testing and back and forth with Ford. When they find something out, I'll post and update.

Yep this error is extremely aggravating. It goes away when you hit the button in the top right hand corner to turn on the reverse sensors in the back up camera window. Even tho I have the sensors selected on in the options menu. And the error stays gone till I cycle power which shuts off the rear sensors again. This has never worked properly since I drove it off the lot. And it seems many people are having same issue with the reverse brake assist unavailable error. Hopefully Ford finds a fix for this soon.

Ok...Mine was finally resolved. I've initially got "reverse brake assist not available" so I went through the manual and tried driving slowly in reverse couple of times and that did not fix it. After trying bunch of things like resetting sync4, turning on/off all the sensors, I decided to take it to the dealer.

1st attempt:

Took it to the dealer and found "communication failure" error code but they said it will take 4-7 days to fully diagnose the issue so I decided to take it to another dealer.

2nd attempt:

Took it to another dealer to take a look. They decided to reset/recalibrate IPMA module and then bunch of other warning messages started popping up (ex: blind spot not available, pre collision not available...etc.) They mentioned that it's due to a faulty IPMA module and they ordered a new one. Originally, they ordered a wrong IPMA so they had to order it again but once they received the correct one. It fixed the issue and the warnings went away.

It's been less than a day since I got my truck back so hard to determine whether replace IPMA module will fix the issue but I saw this thread https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/sensor-faults-on-first-drive.1147/page-2 where replacing IPMA seems to fix the issue.

I hope this helps others. It seems like to this day, there is no clear pattern or solution to this issue.

Still waiting to hear back from Ford, but evidently there is a TSB that Ford put out 21-2249 that supposedly addresses the issue.

I wanted to add that I had this same problem after a bedliner install.

Apparently what happened was that they turned the truck on with the tailgate disconnected. The procedure outlined in the owners is correct. What it doesn't tell you is that a service tech has to do it with the truck in "programming mode". Which apparently means that they have to drive it straight at slow speed with a computer plugged into it.

The dealership was able to fix it that way.

Update on my truck, the dealer attempted the TSB fix and went back and forth with Ford before determining the IPMA module is bad. The module is now on back order so who knows when they will get it in.

Shit. My truck is at the dealer today attempting the TSB and working on the trailer perimeter alarm issue. They kept it overnight so they're probably having a hard time with that as well.

I also just had a Line X done and am having the same issue… Didn’t hear back from the dealer today, I’ll press harder tomorrow. I’ll be sure to report back if I hear anything.

They gave mine back. Service advisor left early. No paperwork, issue still present.

Getting weekly updates from Ford, the IPMA module is way back ordered with no anticipated timeframe for getting it in stock. On the bright side since I contacted Ford customer service they are also tracking the case and they said they would credit me a car payment, and more if it keeps getting delayed. (y)

I'm not sure if I followed up on this but customer service is now saying the reverse brake assist not working when traction control is off is normal behavior.

Mine started this morning, it was foggy this morning due to heavy rain yesterday, truck was in the garage all night no problems backing out. I got to work and was backing into the same spot I always park in and it did it twice and still continues to do so. Taking it in next Tuesday for a oil change and having them check this out. I will mention the TSB and I have a transmission leak as well. My 18 started leaking transmission fluid at around 15k and the dealer had it for 5 weeks this one is leaking at 2000 miles in the same spot. I will mention the TSB on the IPMA.

Had this issue also, had the TSB done and it has taken care of it.
