ok, what if at home on the table I connected tcu, apim, gwm and bcm and configured it for this vin and connected it to the frds server?

I am not sure if I am understanding you correctly as far as what you want to try here. Are you saying to want to remove the modules and program them on a bench?

The car whose VIN I wrote down is no longer complete, it was dismantled for parts. I bought GWM and APIM from this car, along with the installation, and I want to connect them at home and update them. I have a UCDS cable and it supports FRDS.

I am not sure if that will work. If there is a way to do it, I don't know how to.

What is wrong with the APIM/GWM in your truck? What is it you are trying to accomplish by doing this?

It's not about the car, it's about finding a way to update any sync4 from usb. Without going to a Ford service center and using fdrs.

Ah...got it. If you figure it out, let us know. lol Even with FDRS, you can only update those module as far as what Ford has available for the VIN of the vehicle in question.

You would need some kind of program able to create the manifest file needed for the USB update to work. Even then, you would need a way to source the files needed for each module specific to the part number of the module you are updating.

I think that the update files are generated for one VIN number, so I am thinking about changing the VIN number in the car to the number of the donor or for which the USB flash drive is generated during the update. Change the number in the modules during the update and restore the original module configurations after the update. That's why I would like someone to give me their USB pendrive with files to create a file database, I already have some of them and FordSoftwareManifest.der

If you were able to source the USB files with the manifest, I think the VIN swap trick in the BCM would work. The problem is getting the manifest file. I have no idea how you can do that without FDRS.

In that case, you can try it. Change the VIN in the BCM and pop the USB in. If it does not work, you will get a USB error message.

If it sat for a year first thing I would do is get a new battery if you haven’t already done so. Then wait to see if any updates come in
