I hope it's OK to ask a question here:

I've been fiddling around off and on trying to get my truck to update software because currently my backup camera button doesn't work and it seems that should be resolved in a newer version. ('21, currently on 23159 / 915). I bought the truck 3 months ago, and whenever I check for updates it just says "you're up to date" (does not show any version info or release notes like some people seem to get).

Anyway, I've tried all the tricks that have been suggested here and elsewhere. I understand that there's no way to force an update to happen, but I want to make sure there's nothing on my end that's causing it to be silently blocked. I'm wondering mostly about the battery - I tried fully charging it, then tried leaving it on the charger overnight as well but the hood wasn't fully closed.

Does anyone know:

• If a charger is connected, will the truck still not update if it detects the hood being open?
• If the battery isn't good enough, will it ever say that an update is available (without being able to install it), or will it just pretend like it doesn't exist?
• Forscan shows 80% SOC, but also only 11.5V (after I had been messing around with accessory mode for a while) which seems pretty low. Does anyone know if the updates are based on the SOC % or the battery voltage or both?

I know it's going to be time for a new battery soonish anyway, but other than the OTAs not installing everything else seems fine so I'm kinda hesitant to put in a new battery just to see if it makes OTAs work. However, if others here have info to suggest that simply replacing the battery has a decent chance of making the updates flow again I'll probably do it.

Not really the right place to post this but...
It will update with the hood open and charger connected.
Even with a low battery they will download but fail to install. You should get message that it failed.

I'm on week 4 of my 2024 XLT. I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure out if I need updates or not. My vin is 1FTEW3LP8RFB36403 .

I keep it in my garage, and the wifi signal is just OK. I'm trying to figure out if I should add a booster for the garage and/or battery charger to keep it topped off.

Your truck being a 2024 was built with most of the latest software already, so you don't have much pending and therefore will not get many updates. Wifi makes no difference whatsoever.......updates download via the trucks modem. Your list is below:

Aside from the IPMA/PSCM combo that will give you improved lane centering and driver assist features, there is nothing there that will blow you away.

@rugedraw VIN lookup please…for OTA and maybe FDRS related updates. Haven’t seen any OTA’s in a few months (if not over a year ago), just curious if there’s an issue I should get checked out. I don’t think my Sync version is up-to-date yet. Here’s the info from my end…

Just ran the BCMC update this weekend & re-ran the ACM (just in case) & aware of the security issue with the latest BCM update.

Just curious if there’s any other updates I should have received/notified of, that are missing. Thanks!

BTW - No issues or warnings lights that I’m aware of at this time.

Yes, you are missing updates. You are two versions behind the latest Sync, but you aren't showing the necessary available updates to be able to fully update. Is your FDRS license still active?
