No, wait, it seems I mixed your VIN with someone else. Your truck was sent 2.6.0 mid March but it failed to install. It did not record an error message, but it never downloaded any files when the OTA trigger was created and it timed out two weeks later. You are very behind on updates as your Sync version is software from 2021, but your truck is past the 20301 hump.

My bad......I was away for the weekend and was checking about a dozen VINs at a time and mixed yours up. The older updates you need are rarely pushed out to trucks, so it will be quiet a while before you are up to date if you depend on OTA's.
It's okay my friend
So what can i do to receive OTA
I tried so many ways but no success
sorry a noob question

Nothing you can do to initiate an OTA trigger. If you want your updates now, the only way is with a Mongoose OBDII tool and an FDRS license from Ford.

Could someone look up my VIN - 1FTFW1E89MKD62304 - one more time?

Last week was a good week! My dealer actually put some updates on my truck so at least now it has a code level and OTA's are enabled.

And can you tell me where I stand and what I need to do next?

Thanks a lot!!!

i met a guy today and did about 4 hrs of updates on his truck and while we were downloading one of the updates the truck took an OTA. was pretty cool to see it happen that fast. So you never know which one of these updates you have available that might be holding up OTA's.

Thanks for all of that information ... I think. If I understand that correctly, most every component on my truck still needs further updates.

Do you know if this will happen through normal OTA actions, or if I will still need to take steps to make it happen?

This is the biggest reason that there's a mongoose in the toolbox.

There are software/firmware revisions continuously being developed that are NOT going to ever be targeted as an OTA update.

Just the improvements of overall drivability that resulted from PCM updates since the Job1 2021, to the current 2023, is worth the price of the tool.

And to add to what snakebitten said. As far as I know there is no way for us common folk to know what modules might or might not be OTA capable or which modules might be holding others up from future OTA’s.

Actually we do know which ones are OTA capable. From the Forscan spreadsheet:

What we mere mortals don't know is WHEN. And sometimes not even IF Ford is sending out as an OTA.

Also, with the wonderful historical record of F150 OTAs now condensed into a spreadsheet and an awesome beta website, you can get a good idea of which modules Ford has sent OTAs to, and those they haven't even though updates are available.

Filter for "F150" and scroll.

All 26 OTA updates are listed

Just so happens that I am going right by Durand, Michigan on Friday, April 28th (I live in Colorado) and I was writing a DM to you to see if you were going to be around.

But with all the updates that are still missing and, after the advice from you, snakebitten, rugedraw and others on the forum, I just ordered a Mongoose and I'm going to take on the updates myself on Wednesday! Wish me luck!

Yeah I would have been glad to help you except we will be in Florida that weekend. But glad you’re getting a cable. Will be nice to have. Just be prepared to take awhile and try and have a good internet connection. Wired is always best. And if you have the IPMA update holy shit that one takes forever! Was over 2 hours! The rest went pretty fast. Good luck I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Yes, I've seen that a few times while checking VIN's.

I would plan on needing two days to update your truck. When I did mine back in September, 2.8.3 was the latest update available, and it took me 13 hours to go from 2.7.3 to 2.8.3 including all the other modules needing updates that weren't available via OTA. The IPC update for 2.7.4 didn't work via USB so I had to CAN bus it in and that alone took 6 hours. Now, the APIM update that gives you full screen will take 3 hours to do, and the CMR update that came out months ago is another 2 hours. As far behind as your truck is, you may need both days of the FDRS license to get your truck fully up to date. Most people I have seen lately that needed to do the IPC update, they had to CAN bus it in because the USB method seems to fail more often than not.

I, for one, think this is a GREAT idea.

When you ask for a VIN check, please specify if you are looking for OTA updates, or if you need to see what specific modules have updates pending on FDRS.
I'd like to request both Ota updates and pending updates on first. Thanks.
