Request Clarification on Power Tow Mirror P/N ML3Z-17696-DA

It appears that P/N ML3Z-17696-DA is somewhat of an upgrade "kit", as it comes with practically everything you need. However, I am confused regarding the description. Some Ford dealers identify this P/N as being BLIS equipped, and you must have BLIS for the mirrors to work. But other dealers specifically call out the these mirrors (same P/N!) as not BLIS equipped and will not work with BLIS equipped vehicles.

i can definitely see why you are confused; that is very confusing. those mirrors 100% come with BLIS, my source is Ford's own electronic catalog system that Ford themselves runs and maintains/updates

Thanks. If your info is coming from Ford's own electronic catalog, then that is more reassuring. Those dealers claiming no BLIS: I guess their internet descriptions were never updated? ?‍

Did you check to see if you're wired for power extend or if you're going to install the required parts

No, I haven't - and great point!!! I have power fold "standard" mirrors, with auto dimming, BLIS and 360 camera, but I have no idea if power extend is a part of that same harness. How do I check if I'm already wired for power extend? Is there an additional / special harness that I need?

Yes, there's an 8 pin plug that should be chilling inside the door if it's ready for telescope. It should be able to reach where that switch goes right in front of the window switches.

Uhh, okay... So, what does that mean, exactly? I need to pay you $150 for the answer; I need an additional harness that will cost $150? Please be patient with me - I'm not quite clever enough to decipher the vagueness.

It's $150 for a harness with it in it, be you swap for a factory harness or use/wait on a 3rd party's.

Okay, so Ford has the correct harness with the power-extend incorporated into it. That makes complete sense. I assume that this harness is a direct replacement for my current Lariat harness?

You mentioned a third party/aftermarket option. I assume it is the same as Ford's, but less expensive?

3rd party is more, ford is cheaper but more work. Replacing the entire door harness is more connections than you'd realize.

This is great information - thank you. Please be patient with me, I REALLY want to get this figured out. I am seriously considering making the tow mirror upgrade....

So, the aftermarket harness is more expensive, but more.... "complete"? Meaning, it is more of a ready, direct swap?
