I just got the update that I’m getting the TRM update tonight. That will be the first OTA I have received since doing my FDRS updates last month.

Ford F-150 Recall: REPROGRAM INTEGRATED TRAILER RELAY MODULE (Campaign/NHTSA#
22S17/22v193) 015E6B99-8038-4F33-8F81-30B8665B6C2F

I’m trying to stay on top of this thread. Is the BB the correct software to fix the trailer module?

It appears to be. I have received the BB update and the problem has not appeared for me when towing. The Document from the NHTSA has a different version listed as the fix, but Ford says this BB version addresses the problem.

I have a 2021 PB LARIAT. Had 6000 miles on it and 0 problem for towing. I updated to BB back in first week of may. I towed my trailer last week without problem. But today, after drive for 5 mins. Got the trailer disconnected alert. Try restart the car, plug/unplug won’t work.
What else should I do? I arrived at the camp site driving slow for 3 hours.

I want my brake control back! I should not do the recall since I never had problem before…

is it a software problem? How I can hard reset the system?

Very odd! I just did 400 miles with the BB update with no problems. A hard reset will be disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and let all the modules drain of power. Then reconnect it.

NO! Not with a Powerboost. The auxiliary battery will prevent shutdown and he could damage it If he drains that, too. Better to just let it sit until the halo around the rear seat USB goes dark. Then the relays will have reset. 20-30 mins approximately.

I tried. Disconnect the camper and go out for dinner. After 2 hours and back to campsite, try to connect to the camper still same error.

If this is the same old problem recurring, disconnecting and reconnecting the trailer probably won’t make a difference.

Reconnect the trailer normally, start the truck and manually select an active trailer profile. Then squeeze the manual brake actuator. If it shows the trailer disconnected, shut down the truck and walk away for 30 minutes to give the truck plenty of time to reset. Just leave it alone. Don’t check on it. Don’t disconnect the trailer. Then come back, restart the truck and give everything a minute or two to come back online. Then check the brake controller again.

This is exactly what I have had to do the two times I had this issue.

Last time we talked, you were still running the original software. Did either of these failures occur running -BB?

I am still on the original version. I was hoping I'd get updated via OTA like others, but don't think that will happen. I also have been hesitant to go to the dealer due to the chaos of this recall. I'm at about 7k miles, so when it's time for an oil change, hopefully the dealers can apply the actual fix. :(

Tried this method… sadly not working.

tried to hookup to my friends fifth wheel it works fine.

so is it my trailer or f150 problem?

Hard to say without more Investigation. Going just with what you’ve said so far—same truck, two different trailers—it could be your trailer. To narrow it down, start with the easy stuff. Delete any existing profiles you have for your trailer and start from scratch. Look carefully at the 7-way on your trailer. Any corrosion? Bent blades? Clean it out with a good electronics contact cleaner just to rule it out. If you are using dielectric grease, stop. It’s non-conductive. Use a rubber weather cap to protect the 7-way instead. If the easy stuff doesn’t help, check the wiring all the way back to the electric brakes. Are you getting voltage at the brakes? If you can, have a friend hook his truck up to your trailer. Does his brake controller work?

If you aren’t comfortable checking the brake wiring yourself, have your rv dealer do it with their equipment. To me, it would be worth the money to rule out a problem with the trailer since you already have one datapoint suggesting your F150 works fine with at least one other trailer.

If you want to try to further rule out the truck, you can try it out on yet another trailer and/or buy a diagnostic tester like this: https://www.amazon.com/MaxxHaul-501...=1654451870&sprefix=7-way+,aps,97&sr=8-6&th=1

Post what you find and we’ll see if we can zero in on the issue.
