I noticed the EXACT same thing when I did mine but way worse

I mentioned it in a different thread and ford motor opened up a case on it.

I wiped some off with my finger and it was clearly carbon.

Stopped by a local muffler/front end shop that I trust and showed the owner who said “ that’s a lot of carbon for 11k but the eco boost engines will do that. It’s just carbon coming out of the weep holes

Ford F-150 Recall #21S56 - Loose / Sagging Underbody Insulators (Driveshaft Fracture Hazard) 674A905D-2105-4CF7-844F-C1E84CCFCADF

I was checking my undercarriage to see what the recall was all about, I recently purchase My 21 Tremor 2 months ago and I also received the notification about the recall, I checked underneath and of course it’s starting to saw a bit and you can also see aluminum tape where they where trying to tape over it, but I also found out that my exhaust is leaking, has anyone else seen this happen yet?

We were purchasing our truck on December 23 and just as we were leaving to the dealership they called to say that the truck was on recall and they wouldn’t be able to sell it to us. Here we are January 12th and we haven’t heard anything about when we can purchase the truck. We are in Canada ?? and wondering if there is anyone else up this way that has had a similar experience and if they have any info to share.

That really sucks. Do you know if the recall has worked it’s way through the Canadian system yet? The repair procedures that have been posted on this thread previously were for the US and had been through the NHTSA recall process (US feds). IIRC your dealer previously said the repair procedure had not been issued to them yet.

I’m having mine done Friday with some other work. I was in 3 weeks ago to have a deal leak looked at and they mentioned they would do it the same time they replace the transfer case rear output shaft seal.

I’m in BC Canada

I really don’t know much yet. Still waiting to hear. Our sales guy said they “canada dealerships” were waiting for info this week. But sounds like some have it already.

All depends on the dealers and how quick they put their orders in. I used to be a parts manager at the Mazda dealer for 12 years and when recalls came out that you needed parts ordered you would have to manually order them. And a lot of times if you didn’t ordered them right away they would go on back order pretty quick so who knows. Hope soon for most people.

I'm probably too late for you to cancel your service appointment but for others my advice is don't take your truck to the dealer for anything if it is subject to the recall. Check it yourself to see if your truck has the problem, fix it yourself it the insulation is sagging. Wait to take it to the dealer until they can assure you that they have the parts to do the recall repair.
I took my truck in for it's first service and it was subject to the recall and "failed" inspection for 21S56. That was 8 days ago and as of yesterday the "emergency order parts" were still not in and not expected until late next week. That will be 2 weeks in the shop if the parts actually come next week. When they first told me that they had to order parts I asked if I could pick the truck up and come back when they had the parts. Since it's considered a safety issue, once diagnosed they cannot release the truck back for me to use.

wow! Thats nuts! I didnt have any damage thankfully, but like you said they dont have the parts in stock so they told me I’ll have to come back to get the full recall. Sounds like Ford is being premature on telling vehicle owners to come in for the recall.

hope you get your truck back soon!

Hey! Did you get your truck all fixed up? Our parts were ordered on January 10th. Not sure how long it will take to get them. Fingers crossed it will be soon with a sale pending!

I called my dealer right after New Years and gave them the TSB # and they said they would order the parts. A week later they called me and said the parts are in and they set up a date for me to bring the truck in.

My dealer just completed mine alone with module updates. Repair was a breeze to say the least.

Mine requires replacing the driveshaft (because of the mark) but the dealer told me that it's still on backorder. Anyone here got the driveshaft replaced?
