Yeah I agree… I’ve just have always and I mean always jacked up from that point. What worries me though is something is definitely lose and definitely sagging causing some type of misalignment. Gotta see what the dealer says.

So put it on jack stands just to see if noise went away and I believe it did. But what’s concerning is. I took my stethoscope to my rear differential and could slightly hear teeth still grinding. Not like before but it’s there… but now I could hear a thump thump sounds resonating from somewhere.. tried my right side near my tire didn’t hear anything. Put the stethoscope to my left side closest near the tire and I can hear a thump thump thump rotational sound… it’s definitely from there or resonance from the differential. Something is lose.

And remember, when you lift via the pumpkin, for an F150 you have about 3,000 lbs suspended on the axle ends and thus you're lifting in the middle. If the Axle isn't designed to suspend 3,000 LBS in the middle you're flexing the axle tubes. This mis-aligns the gears inside the pumpkin, and it doesn't take very much to destroy those helical gears.

Yeah idk I’ve just always jacked from the pumpkin. I obviously do it slow and not ramp on it like I’m pumping a tire… my truck is lifted 6” so it’s just the lowest point for me to jack it up. But besides that I’m going to book an appointment but I know they are just going to test drive it and it will probably make no sound. I guess I’ll have them watch my video? Or tell them if it’s up in the air and spin the tires you’ll hear a grind sound. Oh

did your kinda sound like mine? And I make sure when I’m jacking it up to place it on the smooth groove sides. I understand what you mean tho. I almost wana try and out jack stands on each side of the shaft and lower it and test it out . I’ll probably hear the same sound… but yesterday I got my wife to do circles around my truck and couldn’t

this might sent twice. Bad service at work. But yes I try my best to jack it up carefully. I might try and set jack stands on each side of the shaft and test it out that way but probably will sound the same… strange though got my wife to drive in a circle and I couldn’t really tell if I was hearing anything… but I also have a really really loud exhaust too lol.
Your’s sounds louder than mine when jacked up - but essentially the same sound. While driving, sometimes it could be heard, sometimes not - until it got real bad. The dealer cracked open the pumpkin to have a look, and the diff fluid was full of metal shavings. I suppose that would be your “sure-fire” way of checking (I was still early in my warranty period, so let the dealer do thé troubleshooting).
