The powerboost emblem on my passenger door is not straight. I keep trying to live with it but I guess my personality just can't stop noticing.

Been doing some searching online and found some folks that have de-badged the car using fishing line, plastic trim removal tools etc. It seems that adhesive often remains stuck on the paint and then has to be removed with goof-off etc.

Is there any way or truck to just peel enough that you can just slightly twist the front edge downwards without full removal? Or if you completely remove the badge, and you lose most of the adhesive, is it still sticky enough to be reapplied? Is there a vehicle-paint tape out there or anything?

I thought maybe I'd just buy a new badge, thinking they'd be $10 or something.... looks like minimum $50 for the stupid thing.

I could ask the dealer to do it under but I'm always reluctant they'll be careful with the paint etc.

Any tips or hints to reuse the existing badge would really be appreciated.

you will have to completely remove the badge, it won’t rotate, and even if it did, you couldn’t restick the loose end. Be prepared to buy a new one to go back on. I got mine off cleanly when I did my two-tone, but couldn’t get the adhesive off the emblem to re-apply it. Maybe you will have better luck than me.

Acetone should take off any remaining adhesive.

You can buy 3M emblem tape to re-apply the badge - no need to buy a new one, imo.

when I removed mine there was what seemed like a 1/4 inch of adhesive on the back Of the emblem. It was too much for acetone (maybe if it was submerged it would eventually fall of?) and I wound up bending my emblem trying to scrape it off. The emblem is rather fragile.

I'm not saying it can’t be done, I'm just saying be prepared to spend the money on a new emblem if you attempt it yourself because there is a chance the process goes sideways.

Heat gun and fishing ling to remove.
Oven set to 250 and let sit for 30 minutes to help remove adhesive.
reapply with 3M VHB tape.
