I bought my first F-150 about 5 months ago after owning a Chevy 1500 for several years. Very impressed by the 2.7 EcoBoost in my 2018...not as impressed by the fiberboard being the only protection for a plastic oil pan. Does anyone know if the skid plates built by RCI will fit underneath a 2018 frame without any major drilling or changes? I don't want to mess with anything on the frame too much. Are the RCI plates worth it or is the fiberboard/plastic oil pan enough to make sure it doesn't get wrecked. New to both the F-150 world and vehicle "modification" world. Thanks.

The fiberboard thingy is I believe for sound deadening and maybe some aerodynamics. It is not meant as any sort of skid plate or protection. It is pretty much useless and will likely get torn off quickly if you do any off-road driving. I removed mine immediately, most folks do.

I'm short on skills, tools (and fuse length!), but I installed my RCI plates pretty easily on my 2022. I've actually taken them off and on a few times. Just used some ramps to lift the front of the truck up a bit. It's doable by yourself, but a third hand is helpful.

They come with all the parts necessary and pretty good instructions. RCI has great support, they will help you over the phone with any questions.

RCI's website lists 2015-2025 F 150, so the answer to your question is yes.

Thanks for the information and reassurance. I don't do a lot of off road driving, other than the some fields, pastures, and gravel roads sometimes. Still might be a good investment for the protection of the plastic oil pan that the all-knowing engineers put together.
