Hey All,
Just curious if anyone else has experience the very awkward and scary at times delayed take off with their PB. I feel like an update a month or so a go had something to do with it. On 3 different occasions since then, the delayed takeoff has occurred to me. It is scary because the truck starts moving into traffic then quits pulling. The engine was not at operating temp when this has occurred. The motor is running at 1200 rpm, I give it throttle slowly like normal, the truck moves forward like in electric only mode, the motor does not increase rpm as I'm giving it throttle, then at about 1/3 throttle the engine comes to life and the truck lurches forward. It has about got me hit a couple times now. Thoughts?

It's happened to me when pulling out into oncoming traffic. If I get on it too soon during the turn the nanny kicks in and it is scary seeing the vehicles get large in the rearview!
I have disabled the traction control as a solution, or pulled out easy and then hit it once I'm lined up straight, and finally just waited for a larger gap lol. It's worse if the road is wet.

So your motor is not revving when the throttle is depressed? It sounds like you were losing traction?

It cuts out because it detects wheel spin or even the hint of a whisper of wheel spin lol

Ahh OK, mine never changes rpm, so no wheel spin here for sure. Barely moving

It still sounds like the system is overriding your inputs. Drive it in sport mode for a week and teach it who’s boss.

They say these vehicles learn our driving habits and adapt to them, but let’s not get carried away. It’s very rudimentary and can get confused and even tricked (like tapping the brakes to bring about EV operation).

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

I can handle taking it in if needed. Just seeing if this is a bigger issue than just mine.

So this just happened with me trying to pull out into a faster moving road. I pressed the gas and there was minimal movement, like I took my foot off the brake and was idling slowly forward. I hit the brake, shifted into reverse and it was the same minimal ability to move the 10 feet or so backward. Going forward again, but now really cautious about traffic, I waited until it was very clear and tried again. I had to really give it gas and it finally came to life and moved.

Truck is exactly 1 year old and has a little over 10k miles, never had this issue and otherwise drove normal the rest of the way home. No CEL or warnings came on.

This could have been worse, but just lost a little confidence in this truck.

It is a bet scary to say the least. I assume your motor was running too. I hope no one gets into an accident because of it.

I'm pretty sure the ICE was not running at the stop sign, it usually kicks right on as soon as I put a bit of pressure on the accelerator. I was in enough of panic mode I don't recall if actually ever kicked on, I think it was kept in electric the whole time. Once I tried again and really gave it gas, the engine kicked on and was good. Was there any other times this happened to you after your post?
