Your truck is WAY BETTER OFF sitting way up high on a Rail Car!

Rather than sitting in some flooded Ford Lot somewhere waiting for chips…

Ford Lot.jpg

I know that doesn’t help the excruciating waiting one bit.

One of my customers RUNS the rail yard where MY truck was sitting waiting for transport to the dealer and believe me… I did everything I could to arrange for me to pick it up and drive it to the dealership.

BUT... until it’s unloaded at the dealership and signed for, it’s NOT “your” truck. It’s “Ford’s”.
As much as it pains me to say so because I don’t want to encourage these heartless bastards… “it’s worth the wait”!
I have no problem waiting just hate that it’s so close!!

Where is yours headed? Tracking mine has been moving relatively quickly! It made it from KC on the 6th to about 3 hours from my dealer yesterday!
It’s in Pearland TX but headed to South Louisiana

This did not work, it just transfers me to a live operator after stuttering and doing nothing, which is when I hang up. No idea why this is so difficult in the 21st century...

USPS has better tracking, and that only updates in 24-48 hour cycles....

(Not talking about it not saying anything when it's entered properly, it won't even accept any proper inputs. Talking to hear my head rattle has the idiot bot all "Did you mean FGNR PLNF PSFN BNSL BNLL BNPQ" and whatever the f*** else it doesn't understand. Following the "for example, you hit 3 twice to get whatever damn letter on your keypad" still does nothing. Just transfers to a operator because it's such a piss poor system...)

Saw this in a thread kicking around on the site, does anyone know if this applies to BNSF, or just the Belt Railway? It was labeled as BNSF in the thread, but it says no status when I key the car initial(s?) in and the number

" No record of this car received on the BRC"

Try looking through these options too if you haven't already

I’ve been having the same issue but kinda confused because ford told me estimated delivery of 1/10-1/16 but the rail tracking tells me my truck will be in Lordstown Ohio December 14th….that is only 24 miles from my house
Its out of Fords hands now. They have no control over the rail. Thats like calling the store and not UPS for a package status.

My final railyard was Lordstown. My truck sat on the rail car for a week before there was room to off load it. That is 9 miles dealer. It took another 2 weeks to get on a truck for that long ride to the dealer.

That’s what I’m at but 15 days instead of a week

One number for tracking railcars is CSX, and below is a way to automate the call.

For CSX, the railcar letters are entered with 2 digits each. First digit is the digit for the letter group on your phone (2 = ABC, 3 = DEF, etc) and the 2nd digit is position in the group. For example, A is 21, B is 22, C is 23, D is 31, E is 32, etc.

To automate add this to your phone book, but replace the railcar number. 18002352352,,,,,1#,,81814192#,,716133#,,##

My railcar number was NKCR008633, so I entered 18002352352,,,,,1#,,62522373#,,008633#,,##

CSX
1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say CN (or whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt.
4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 (or whatever your number is)
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.
6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report.

All that said, unfortunately none of the phone numbers could track my railcar. It always said the railcar was in California and empty, even though VVR kept somewhat better tracking of it going from Dearborn to Chicago to Spokane, WA to Laurel, MN and finally to Pearland, TX.

2 other number to try to track railcar are below. I assume you could set up similar automated call for those.
Union Pacific
1. Call UP at 1 800 877-5123
2. Follow phone prompts for Trace
3. Say the railcar number complete and clearly. Example CN123456 all together
4. Listen for your update

NS Norfolk Southern
1. Call 800-635-5768
2. Press 2.
3. Press 2.
4. Enter the letters on the numeric keypad then press #. As in: TTGX will be 8849
5. Enter the numbers then press #. It wasn't taking my voice prompts but typing worked.

Thanks a million, this helped a lot. Amusingly it basically says released to customer, but October 25th in Markham Illinois.

As the truck was being built and finished on the line then, definitely not it!

Guess it was dropped there and then rode back to Detroit 271 miles for more loading possibly? Will give it a listen again later.

To help those struggling with the hell that is a phone tree and annoying voice automation, here's what you enter on the keypad for BNSF:

22627433 is BNSF

Mine did the same thing. Phone response would read back the railcar number exactly as shown on VVR, but said it was empty and released to customer. Some people are able to track the railcar with the phone numbers. Mine just never worked.

The report the dealer pulled showed a shipping date of 12/11 - 12/17. So figure it's enroute currently or snarled via snow pounding the midwest areas.

It's a older visibility report though, may have changed

Some people can track their railcar with detail. I would get frustrated because it looked like mine was sitting in a Chicago railyard for 3-4 weeks, but then a new VVR entry would show that said it moved across the country.

That’s where I’m at. VinView says 11/28 arrival to Pearland. Union Pacific says it’s still in Illinois lol.
