I definitely recommend a set of jack stands with "feet" at the bottom instead of the sharp edged ones. I left so many marks in my driveways over the years from those dang things, and the ones with "feet" sit better with weigh ton them, imo.

Harbor Freight's Daytona stuff has come a long way recently. I'm not afraid to use them spending hours under my classic cars, for what it's worth.

Hello everyone. All my previous vehicles were able to fit in my garage so putting them on stands to do maintenance was no issue. But my truck is too big to fit in the garage. My question is what would be a good way to use jackstands on a very rough driveway? Made of the concrete mixed with pebbles.

Put pressure treated wood under your jack stands. My driveway is similar and this did the trick for me.

I use the flat bottom Torin/Big Red jackstands (and jacks). Not the cheapest option, but they are fantastic.

I like the plywood and the rubber leveler under the plywood if your driveway is uneven.

Also for ramps I just never trusted those old formed metal ones from the 70's and 80's. I always made my own out of wood. I also never felt good about the waffle style plastic ones.

For these I used 2x12's and it is solid. I needed to make it longer than I wanted due to having a lower cowled car I wanted to use it for too. This made it longer and heavier but it will not collapse on me for sure.

Make no mistake you will not be carrying these around unless you want to start singing Soprano but with some rubber Flex Seal spray paint sprayed on the bottom these things they will not move at all. I made them so they stand up against the wall too.

I think I just found my next shop project.

I've had these stands for the past 20 years but just bent the crap out of one mounting the truck yesterday doing an oil change. I think it's time to retire them. Thanks

I use ramps that are rated for 12,000 lbs and cost me $50 on Amazon. When greasing the front end of a 2500 truck it provided much easier access to the fittings. I added grease every 3,000 miles as per the manufacturers recommendation and so I got a lot of use out of the Scepter ramps.

I made a set just like this and I feel much safer crawling around under the truck versus almost any other ramp or jack stand. I added a handle to mine by balancing them on a table edge, marking the balance point and attaching the handle...much easier to carry around (y)

You will not be crushed with these and you can use these on a hot blacktop and they will not leave indentations in the driveway.

You do need to eat your spinach before you carry these though.

Each one weighs 22 lbs, and even with my heart condition, I can EASILY carry one in each hand.....
