Hey all, new here. Pulled the trigger on a 21 lariat 501A, lead foot, tow tech, co-pilot, and bigger tank. Went with Granger after reading about them. Chip was so nice to deal with!!!

It’s going to be hard not to harass him but I’m doing my best.

my big pickle now is my 2018 XLT. It’s a fully loaded special edition lead foot that stickered for 56,000. I’m seeing offers anywhere from 34,000-43,000. Trying to decide if I need to sell NOW or if I can drive for another 8-10 weeks and pray the build comes quick. Any advice there?

Made the mistake of trading in our vehicle at the beginning of March as we were told 8-12 weeks. Built April 28th and waiting on chips. I would hold onto your vehicle. ?

I'm in the same boat. I almost ordered my truck from Granger. Chip and Albert are great, and it's only 15 miles from home for me, but ended up ordering a truck on 5/14 from a place a couple hundred miles north because they offered me $3,500 more for my 2020, and were within a couple hundred dollars of Granger on my order. I listed my truck on Marketplace and CL and had several dealers offer as much as $46k cash for my truck, just for stocking their lot. I decided I can't go all summer (or who knows how long) without a truck. I haven't gotten a VIN or anything yet, but thinking I may list it again in 8-10 weeks and see what happens.

It’s a gamble for sure. This only works in my favor if I can still get 40k~ whenever the truck is built. And of course I’m paranoid about all the tiny issues my truck has so I’ll probably go local so it’s all taken into account live and not chancing it with vroom.

I hear you about being paranoid. I came within 6" of getting backed into the side of my truck by my elderly neighbors the other day. I figure if something like that happens, or if I hit a deer in the meantime, it'll probably kill the value of my trade.

Prepare to wait. Believe build scheduling for new orders is into mid-July subject to further delays and shortages. No scheduling occurred last week.

An overarching theme, here and the other Ford forums I visit, is that one's delivery timing is unpredictable and seemingly random...and that's for a myriad of reasons. Best to assume the order resides in an unknown part of the universe.

Now the important stuff: What do you fly?

Nothing sexy I can promise you that!

When I ordered they mentioned they are waiting on a bunch of other custom orders. Does that have any bearing on priority? IE the dealer orders 40 customer orders is there a line or does it just get sent right off to Ford?

The dealer only gets so many orders per month, dealers have a different allotments.

Does this mean I can anticipate an even longer wait by going with someone known for higher volume retail orders?

FWIW I have been told (by both Albert at Granger and the Sales Manager at one of my local Ford dealerships) that special orders exist outside the allotment numbers a dealer is awarded. OTOH that doesn't preclude a dealer from using a monthly allotment from being used by the dealer to place a customer's order, e.g. if the dealer is able to offer a better priority number on that order.
