Hello all. I’ve only had my truck for about 2 months and this is by far the most tech filled vehicle I’ve ever owned. Has anyone had issues with getting an intermittent “Pre collision assist unavailable” message on the dash while driving in rain? It would pop on and then I’d hit ok, have the light on on the dash and then a few seconds would go by and the light would turn off and after a few more seconds-minute or two the notification would come back on. Occasionally I’d just get the warning chime but then the message or dash light wouldn’t show like it stopped for just a second and then started working again.
Anyone have knowledge with this?

If it is only happening in the rain, then it could be the systems used to mitigate that system are being blocked or impaired by the weather. If your truck is connected to Fordpass, post or send me your VIN and I can see if it's reporting any DTC's to the cloud that may be of help.

When driving while it is snowing, I get this a lot. If there is too much rain, snow, built up slush, etc., it will limit the effectiveness of the sensors and you will get the warning. We get a similar warning on two other vehicles we have that are a different brand, so it is not uncommon or specific to Ford.

I've had something like 3 occasions in the 3 1/2 years of my truck where the precollision alerted as if something was in front... yet nothing was there.

Yes I have had it 3 times in 2 months. Actually the first time it was raining the second and third time it was clear and dry. Had it looked at and no codes at all and unable to reproduce

Receiving this thread because I’m still intermittently having this issue. Went and looked at the sensors after getting the alert again today in a clear sunny day. One of the sensor bezels does have a chip and crack on it and the sensor has a little pit in it. I’ll probably call the dealership closest to me tomorrow to see what their availability is

The part that is cracked is just the holder. I'd check to see the sensor is pushed tight and clipped.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.
