This truck is absolutely getting the best of me. Had it in multiple times for the 12V battery. Then there were issues with O2 sensors. As much as I paid for this truck I just want it to work already. This is terrible! We are saddened we came over to the the Blue Oval. We are seriously thinking of cutting our losses and selling it. There is no way a new truck should have this many issues! Sorry for the rant but we are pissed ?.

On my way into work this morning Now this. It threw a powertrain code on me. The conditions of the road were wet snow. It was coming down. But so what! Why would weather matter? It's a damn truck and should work already!

Any ideas? When the dealer opens I'll schedule it to go in. It only has 18K miles on it. @Ford Motor Company

I haven't had any prior issues, but I also had that same code trigger a few times over the past few days. It doesn't seem to cause any visible/audible changes to the functioning of the engine/drivetrain that I could see, and I've noticed that it only triggers sometimes when I first put it in gear (other times it never triggers). I have noticed that it seems to happen most frequently when it's first starting in the morning, when it's coldest--that does seem to correlate to your trigger.

I went in with Forscan to clear the code and restart the truck several times, and it showed up again, so I have an appointment with a dealer on Thursday to have them look at it.

I wonder if one of the recent OTA updates has caused a timing stutter or something? Or maybe there's a bug in the latest version of the software where it thinks there's a problem when there really isn't?

I experience this on almost every journey greater than an hour or if I push the truck on an uphill trip. The error clears itself after I start/stop the truck. I've taken it to two dealerships, but have told me don't worry about it unless the CEL light stays on after restart.

I took a 3-hour drive for a mini vacation a week ago, and my CEL light came on, been doing the same thing for months, and it resets when I restart so I ignored it, been doing this for 6+ months, maybe a few times a month, made it to my destination with no issues only because I didn't stop, and the reason I ignored it up to this point is because of reading all of the forums and seeing that the dealers are saying to not worry about it.

Went to start my truck to pull forward and the truck wouldn't move forward or backwards as it put itself in some kind of lockout safety mode, had to get a rental car for the rest of the trip, luckily I found a local dealer who looked at it right away and it had the p084b code which there is a TSB that just came out in Dec 2023 to reprogram the transmission. Dealer had it for two days, I've been driving it a week now, no issues, amazing that a software update seemed to be the problem. Also, I let it sit overnight and it came out of its lockout mode so I could drive it to the dealer.

Be your own best advocate here. Keep on them. There is an issue. I was dealing with a dealership that kept feeding me BS.

Today I had taken it to a different dealership they diagnosed the issue almost immediately. The belt driven starter generator (some call it an alternator). Only problem is they can not make the repair they stated it won't be in till March. So if it dies entirely, it gets towed to the dealership and I get a loaner. Not a great plan, but at least I finally got a resolution? I can't wait to fast forward past when they fix it to finally determine if this is indeed the root cause of all my headaches! Hope this helps?

Glad to hear they resolved your issue quickly.

They're going to follow the TSB, which requires replacing the starter and a few other things. They'll have it a few days.

I'm coming up on 100,000 miles on it and it's been regularly serviced, but definitely going to keep trying to find that right dealership. Sadly, not a lot of options where I live.

The dealer I had taken it to said for some odd reason I have to wait till March? Very strange.

It must be a fairly new TSB. It's clear that this is the first time that this dealer has done it; the service desk guy wasn't fully aware of exact what needed to be done, but the mechanics seemed to know.

any ideas as to whatever else they are replacing? Care to share the TSB? The dealership I had taken it too stated it was an alternator issue. It's my guess it's the belt assisted starter generator is what he was referring to?

so, the dealer held on to it for a few days, and then had me come pick it up because they needed to replace a part that was on backorder until until march.

The front desk guy said that it was an alternator (on a powerboost?), but I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that this guy just collects payments and isn’t a mechanic. It’s possible that that’s what the mechanics told him in terms that he would understand. (Or that they used terms that they thought the general public would understand when he tried to explain it to me.)
