i know one is able to use the onboard inverter to power a home.
HOWEVER i hear that you have to use specific parts to make it compatible with the truck otherwise it will just fault each and every time you attempt to use it.
does anyone know what i’m talking about?
im not too sure of the terminology i am supposed to be using lol.

The issue is a persistent ground fault unless you take the proper steps to connect the truck.
The problem is that the neutral is bonded both at your house service panel (or should be), and at the truck. This creates what appears to the truck to be a ground fault.
The correct solution is to use an appropriate transfer switch in your house. That is the ONLY approptiate solution. My opinion.
You will find some who will advocate for making up a special cord with the ground wire cut. This IMHO is a BAD/Unacceptable solution. The 63 page thread is mostly consumed with this debate.
Best advice is to use a competent, licensed electrician who will do the job correctly and to code.
There. I saved you from reading a very useful, helpful thread and learning for yourself.
I don't know how long you've been part of this forum, but it is a collegial place that responds very well to a positive attitude and respectful interactions, and as you saw does not take kindly to abrasiveness. Just my humble opinion.

Did you get a new truck, or do you have the 2.0 system on the V8? I wouldn't connect that thing to a house as it's not a good inverter and you could cause all sorts of harm to sensitive electronics. Only the PBs and lightnings have pure sine wave inverters and are good to hook up to such things.

As for connecting a GFI protected generator to a home, my posts are unapologetically on point and don't take into account how others feel about the issue, as well as leave a legitimate open challenge/question to any/all whose answer is something other than 'defer to authority'.

the 2KW cannot run a house correct, however can run 1 or 2 important appliances/electronics.

The waveform is such a mess I wouldn't do it house wide. The inverter's output is ugly. Furthermore it's a single leg 120v output, you can't power the whole house like that, only a single leg. You'd have to kill all 240v circuits as well otherwise you could get some split voltage craziness. Just don't. Voltage begins to sag starting around 1.2kW. A single extension cord is more than enough to load up the inverter.

If you want to power your house due to power outages, you need a Powerboost or Lightning for that. Maybe the 2025 Ram Ramcharger will be able to do that too but that is not out yet.
