It seems my truck has developed a noise when sitting idle in electrical mode. Truck has about 10k on it and I don't remember it making this noise when I first got it. The video is attached. I also linked a facebook posts where someone asked the same question in a ford f150 powerboost group.

Hi Thomas. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.

That's the aux trans cooling pump which is always running w/ ignition on. The frequency seems strange but I don't get under the truck with it running. A few people had reported cavitation from it on inclines and it sounds like it may have been due to a slight under-fill at the factory as the PB's use a little more fluid than the others.

I've recently been noticing something similar from my PB with ~15k on it. Didn't get underneath, but a vid from the driver's front wheel well is below. Tends to happen when the AC is cranking on a hot day, so I'm thinking it's either compressor related or inverter related. Just not sure I remember hearing this last summer...

That's fords HV powered AC compressor right there. They can be quite noisy.

The electric powertrain system does put out a a noise and its fairly normal. The normal sound is like a high frequency electrical winding noise.

This is a high speed clicking noise that sounds kinda like pump cavitation. Without a video of your noise I cant say if its different or the same.

I have the same sound I brought it to the Ford dealer .They said it was the transmission pump they said it is a normal sound .....One of the issues that I have with this transmission and It's been getting louder Since I had the truck. The amount of money we paid for these trucks . Deal with bullshit

I have heard a lot of pumps in my day, and NEVER have they made any noise even close to this. If their diagnosis is a pump and that it was normal, I would get a paper trail going. Pumps don't make clicking noises. Pumps are rotating impellers and flowing fluid. It could be something related to the pump that maybe normal, but the pump itself should not make such a noise.

It would be nice if we could get a few more people with a powerboost to chime in and see if they have the same noise when they are sitting idle and the combustion engine off. I have a feeling that this noise is not normal.

Hey, Bob! I can take a closer look into your transmission noise concern if you'd like. Can you please send us a direct message with your VIN and the dealership name/location?

Aux transmission pump. It’s always running while the ignition is on and makes this noise. It’s normal

Did you ever get more information or clarification on this? My ‘21 powerboost is making this exact noise.

No, not really. It does seem to be slightly louder today than when i posted that video. Dealership said it was normal, but I don't trust their techs. Next dealership is 2.5 hours away so I never got a second opinion.

I think mine makes that noise too. Can't say it is 100% of the time but I had it in park at a drive-thru today, 80F+ and noticed a similar noise to this.

Perhaps something that runs more on hotter days?

I'll keep monitoring and report back anything. My gut tells me this is normal.

OK, was out of the truck, left it running (engine off, as it is powerboost) after driving 45 or so miles today. I believe low 80s. The only HVAC running was just my fan, on 1, AC turned off (I turn off AC, windows down, and let a little air blow on my feet when the weather is nice)

My noise sounds exactly like the original post here.

I've noticed it at drive-thrus as well if I wait and put the truck in park.

It definitely seems to be something related to either warmer weather or the truck being up to full operating temp as I don't believe I've ever heard it when the truck is cold started and in electric mode.

I need to do a little more digging around the net. Still sorta suspect something normal but I would like to be sure.
